I was excited to finally try the food here, because I had heard it was good.
They don't have a posted menu. You either scan the code on the tables or they show you on a screen. If the tables are full, you aren't scanning a code without getting in the way.
I felt like I was just getting the highlights as the young lady at the desk walked me through their most popular items. The food looked appealing, but some plates were pricier than what I expected given the interior of the restaurant & the location. No clue how much a la carte items are because I never saw that as she went through some of the menu.
I chose an enchilada plate, with Verde sauce. 3 very full chicken enchiladas, with rice & beans. They use both light & dark meat. I very much appreciated that they used lots of sauce (most places do not) and added onions on top. Plating was very nicely done and for the price, I got a lot of food & the drinks are huge!
The food was solid, but not amazing. The rice was bland, but the beans were good. The chicken in my enchiladas was very tender and tasty, though I wish the sauce had a bit more depth to it. I would recommend the enchilada plate. Worth the money.
*BIG ISSUE:
While I was waiting, I wandered around, trying to decide where to sit. Unfortunately, as I neared the restroom area, I was hit by a bad restroom smell. An in your face kind of smell. I chose to sit right by the door to get away from the odor. When the young lady brought my plate over, I told her that the odor from the restrooms was awful and hard to get away from. She told me she knew this & apologized. The guys that worked there were using the men's room, as though they couldn't smell anything. Not sure how. Won't go back because of...
Read moreTaco Tuesday's, just go 2 Entrees for $15, and it is so worth it
I decided to get some late lunch tacos on a Tuesday afternoon and decided to drop by since I live close by and have never visited this place before.
I was very fortunate to meet the owner, who walked me through the best items on the menu. So what did I do ? I ordered both dishes because of Taco Tuesday.. (did I mention for only $15?)
I started with Mexican Watermelon Water, which comes in a BIG glass and the right amount of ice. It's so good and smooth . I had to hold off drinking it down because it was going to help me wash down Lunch.
The Quesabirria was amazing, it was amazing. It was not overcooked, and the tacos came with a side of cilantro, pickled onions, and regular onions. It's so good to dip your taco in the soup and go to town. The soup was amazing also. It also comes with a red and green hot sauce. Now, both come with a lot of heat and lots of flavor. If you can take the heat, go for it. So good.
The #7 was three tacos, either corn or flour. I decided to go with the carnitas. Each taco was filled just right, and the dish came with cilantro, onions, and, of course, the Red and Green hot sauce. The side dishes of rice and beans. It was so good, filling, and, of course, went down great with the Watermelon drink.
I highly recommend this place... just go... and enjoy I...
Read moreThe food is good. But that's not what motivated me to write this review. The folks that work here are great! At first I was a little iffy for one reason: after I paid, the little payment kiosk thing showed the tip menu and the girl that took my order quickly tapped out of it. I assumed she tipped herself and wondered how much. I checked my bank account after the payment posted and she tipped $0! Had I known that, I'd have definitely left a tip at the table and now feel guilty for not tipping anything, because....
The table service was great. They checked on us several times after we got our food, but not in an annoying way at all. I was meeting up with some friends that I hadn't seen in a bit so we stayed there for a while, but they never made us feel like we needed to leave or anything. Eventually, it dawned on me that we had been there chatting for a while and I realized it was after their closing time by almost half an hour! We jumped up and apologized on our way out the door, but the guy behind the counter (possibly the owner?) was genuinely friendly and assured us it was no trouble at all and welcomed us back.
tl;dr: Even if the food was mediocre (which it wasn't), I'd still want to come back just to support such a friendly and welcoming crew! Wonderful people...
