First time trying, would always pass by this place after driving back from UTA and now I got the chance to try it. Atmosphere is very intimate, cozy, somewhat yellow dim lighting, Indian music playing in the back ground with a tv showcasing Bollywood dances.
We got the chicken korma, chefs special biryani (medium spicy), the garlic naan, and the kabuli naan.
Korma is excellent, smooth rich taste, moist delicious chicken (I think it’s chicken thigh) and comes with a side of plain biryani rice.
Chefs special is delicious. It includes goat cubes, shrimp (with tail off), and potatoes and each of those tasted great with the biryani. It’s $3 more than a chicken biryani (cheapest biryani). Plentiful meat (not just plentiful potatoes). Medium spice isn’t too spicy, it does have a little bit of a kick.
The naan breads came out thick.
Garlic naan tasted great.
It was my first time trying the kabuli naan and it was pretty good! It’s made up of cheese and raisins inside and is like the less greasy and savory alternative to garlic naan. Recommend eating it by itself rather than with curry. The raisin doesn’t make the bread too sweet, it’s like it adds a pleasant very subtle sweetness to it.
Waitress was very nice. Prices are reasonable. Every dish was less than $15 and there’s enough to take...
Read moreI don't understand how this restaurant has less than 5 stars. My husband and I eat a lot of desi food. This is the best we've had in this area. I ate a lot of Pakistani and indian food growing up. It's quite difficult to find restaurants that meet that standard but they have met and surpassed it. Every bite was so delicious and decadent. My childhood has been relived. Most of the other restaurants here are decent but not incredible. This was immaculate. We ate like mughal kings tonight. We ordered the mughlai curry with lamb (my favorite), mirch masala with beef (also amazing), the chicken tikka makhani (so hard to find good makhani, they get 100/10 stars for this), and keema naan. I have only been able to find keema naan at maybe 2 other places in my life. It was so delicious. You can absolutely tell they're honest about making their own naan. You can taste it. It's not store bought. Please support a local business that takes what they do seriously. If you want the best desi food you can get within 100 (maybe more) miles, order from them. Don't waste your time with the others. This is the longest review I've ever written and it's because this...
Read moreI have eaten here many many times and the place, while a bit quirky with the big screen TV playing Indian shows, it's a good value. When you first drive up or drive by you might be put off by the apparent shabbiness of the exterior. Once you are inside you will be pleased with the pleasant decor. The affable owner has worked continually over the years to turn the place into a very nice dining spot.
I tend to go for the buffet which, despite some other reviewers complaints, I consider well tended. You will tend to find many standards like tandoor chicken plus occassional new items. Today was a debut of a wonderfully light chickpea flour dumpling in a yogurt curry sauce. (I'm not the best at remembering Indian food names, but it was nicely done.)
As for freshness, they don't tend to overfill the serving bins which keeps things on the fresh side.
For the record, both I and my wife are accomplished cooks in a variety of cuisines and tend to avoid eateries that cannot keep up with our own skills. In general, Star does meet our standards and we have...
