Saw this place recommended by many Arlington foodies from a local group, but unfortunately my experience was really subpar. Perhaps a time of day works best to go? Or on a certain day of the week, or if eat in is best option vs. to go. Guess we’ll never know because after my visit I don’t think I’d go near this place.
Ordering experience was a disaster. See below. FOOD was poor. And it takes a lot for a Mexican place to mess up. Chicken tacos that look like the chicken was al vapor rather than grilled or pan fried?! Looked like fish texture! California burrito with uncooked French fries?! Quesobirria tacos with no consomé?! Quesobirria tacos with meat not properly cut (big chunk of tough meat on one)?! And lastly, food that gives you the runs?! Seriously I did not expect the polar opposite of food quality. Disappointing is an understatement. If you’ve made it this far, see ORDERING experience below.
Drive thru experience was really poor. Began ordering and literally after beginning my order, without finishing that first sentence, the young woman on other side of intercom interjected, “anything else?!” I was like jeez relax I have more to order. Each time I added something to my order I was met with this “anything else” annoyance. Mind you I ordered 5 tacos asada, 5 tacos pollo, birria order of 3 quesabirrias, asada burrito and California burrito. So that was freakingly annoying. When cars in front cleared and my turn to pull up to the window, I was not attended to until literally 5 mins after. She told me my total but with such big order and her rushing me at the intercom I told her repeat my order please. It’s as if I spoke a foreign language to her. Finally she confirmed it. After all this ordeal they have the nerve to say when paying “hey the machine is going to ask you a question” like seriously y’all want tip after all this?! Was eventually given food after waiting for about 10-15 mins at window. Took food home and that’s the experience I...
Read moreI have been eating from Giberto’s Taco Shop #1 for the past 5 years. I have never had a negative experience until today at their #2 location.
I placed a phone order for 5 orders of the Bacon Breakfast Tacos = 10 Tacos, 2 orders of the Sausage Tacos = 4 Tacos, and 3 orders of the Chorizo Tacos = 6 Tacos, a total of 20 Breakfast Tacos. Simple math.
We made the mistake of not checking the bags. When we start giving out 2 Tacos per person, we realized we were missing 4 tacos. We initially believed it was the sausage ones, but later came to find out it was actually 4 chorizo ones. We called the store, gave the name on the order and explain what happened. They rep insisted that we had all the tacos and became very argumentative. She asked for photos of the order which was already been devoured. I explained we had already shared the food with the attendees and didn’t realize we were missing until the end when two people had no tacos. She insisted she needed some kind of proof to which I replied very upset, “I can’t send you photos since the tacos are gone, they’ve been digested”. I proceeded to order another 8 tacos, which we were going to pay for and asked if she would give us the 4 missing tacos, to which she replied AGAIN “Can you send me pictures?”. At this point I asked to speak to a manager and she said she was the “Head Cashier”. I just asked if she would prefer to lose a customer over 4 tacos? To which she just responded she would start working on the order and that it would be ready in 15-20min. Since I was in the middle of the meeting, I sent someone else to pick up. They were trying to charge the person again for the 4 missing tacos. Needless to say we won’t be coming back. We will find another place to celebrate our Work Anniversaries...
Read moreGilberto's is easily my favorite place for food! Everything tastes incredible. The marinated shredded chicken was juicy and had such a great flavor. Same as the shredded beef and Carne asada. The portions are very generous, which seems to happen less and less everywhere else. The food is made after you order, and you can immediately see, smell, and taste the freshness and quality. The people working there are friendly and attentive. The place has a good amount of tables available to dine in, an incredible mural on one wall, and very clean. I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican food, especially breakfast burritos. The couple places I'll get breakfast burritos from are at least 30 minutes from me. Gilberto's is much closer and is hands down the absolute best when it comes to breakfast burritos! The best one, The Arlington, is huge, and everything on their breakfast menu is put in the burrito! Absolutely amazing burrito! To me, the best part about it is they seem to pay attention to the little details, like having much of it mixed well. In almost every case, a burrito from anywhere will have each item put in making it inevitable that each bite, you're only getting half of what's in the burrito. Eating one at Gilberto's had as many of the ingredients as possible in each and every bite! The salsa bar has some great flavors, especially the Tomatillo salsa. If you like the spicy side of things, the red one packs an unexpected punch that wasn't expected but delicious! Oh, and the breakfast is served all day too! There 2 locations but one and operated by the same family so you get the same flavors no matter which...
