My husband has been a chef for 30 years and the one thing he always says is there are three things to a successful restaurant, 1 is fresh ingredients 2 is the ability to combine those ingredients into exceptional menu items and lastly, customer service. Starting with the latter customer service, which includes the online ordering process which was extremely simple and hassle free. I won't go into the particulars suffice it to say, they walk you thruough every step of the way, from ice cream to toppings ect. Ordering online and picking up or having it delivered is the only way right now to purchase ice cream from them, due to they pandemic. When I arrived at the location there was a sign telling me to wait at the door where someone immediately spotted me, came over, asked my name and handed me the bag and that was it...very simple and hassel free. Service was timely efficient and they were very polite. There were 3 of us each with very different tastes. All three orders were impeccably put together and looked so delicious that words will fail to describe it. I will just say that this was probably the best ice cream experience I've ever had. The ingredients were so fresh that I'm sure they either make the ice cream on-site or have a commissary close by. The fresh made whipped cream was a stand out. It was so good...it was dense yet light and pillowy...it melted in my mouth. The chocolate was so sweet and decadent that I had to squint as I ate it... seriously, it was so sweet. The fresh fruit toppings were fresher than fresh as were ALL of the ingredients. The names of the menu items actually made me laugh, lol. Names like Banana Hammock tells me that they have a sense of humor too! One point of contention I feel I have to mention is the price. That's all I'm going to say about that if you want to know what I mean, go online and look at the menu. I will amend that by saying it was worth every penny. This place can do no wrong. I HIGHLY recommend you check out Scoop & Scootery.

Read moreThe ice cream creations are really fun and creative. The ice cream bases themselves are really good. It's fresh and tastes homemade, right down to the whipped cream, BUT it's definitely expensive and overpriced for the size. $10+ for half a pint, plus tax & tip, can get a bit pricey imo...but hey if ppl are willing to pay, who am I to judge. I just personally don't know if I'd visit too many more times (even though the sundaes look & sound amazing) because I can't afford nor justify forking over that much for a cup of ice cream.
Also, since Covid shutdowns 3 yrs ago, you're not allowed to even step foot inside the store anymore. Even when they had in-store ordering, the set up was totally wacky, where the menu was located on a wall opposite of where you ordered and paid, and instead where customers were supposed to pick up their orders. It made for illogical traffic flow and created confusion to the ordering process, so customers just got snapped at by the employees with "Put your order in over there!"
I saw a number of comments about poor customer service in the past and didn't really have too negative of an experience there. I mean, they weren't especially engaging, but I think they're just busy & focused. I thought one of the young men was friendly & helpful in fact, but maybe that's one of the reasons they did away with in-store ordering and limited the human interaction to a minimum? I would've given 5 stars, but had to deduct 1 for price & store layout. Ice cream itself and uniqueness of sundae creations...
Read moreStopped in this afternoon with my son. Two guys at counter, neither greets us. I'm looking at the confusing menu; oddly, no prices listed. We order two smaller-sized cups of ice cream, one with sprinkles. Our total comes to about $10.50. Really? I ask where the prices are listed, maybe I missed it. Guy says, "Yeah...the prices used to be listed in the store, but now they're only on our website." I repeat, "So you do not list prices for any items here, in the store?" He confirms. I wonder if it is legal for a licensed food vendor to not list prices on the premises. Anyone? Then I ask if they make their own ice cream. It's a hip-looking joint, and I assumed, for these prices, it must be artisanal ice cream. I'm willing to pay a premium. "Nope..it's Richardson's." Hmm. I ask, "What did you charge me for the sprinkles (a smattering)? "Seventy-five cents." OK, I get that their main business is delivery. But if you're not ordering a hand-crafted sundae at 1 a.m. and want basic counter-service, I would visit the Capitol Creamery or Somerville Theatre, where Richardson's (meh) is served with full transparency and no...
