Walked in here one morning with 3 hungry, frustrated kids a little over a year ago. Our server, Nico, was so patient and kind with our little ones and helped shift their moods for the better! It’s now “our spot” for whenever we have something to celebrate or just want to have a nice start to our day. Our youngest kiddo brags to the older ones about getting to go while they are in school! The portions are huge, and everything is delectable. The falafel is my absolute favorite, but the grilled blueberry muffin is a close second. Nico continues to be our favorite server- he’s incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating about the menu and has only ever recommended dishes that have turned out to be AMAZING. My youngest ordered pancakes recently and they were decorated for her which was super sweet! It’s cozy and old school vibes, and is a staple in my family’s world ever since our first visit. Even when they’re busy and we don’t get a chance to chat up our servers, our orders are quick, delicious, and accurate. Definitely be sure to ask the staff for their recommendations if you’re hopeful for something yummy and not sure what you want- I’ve never regretted asking their opinions when I was...

I love these 'hard to find' traditional cooking-fat restaurants. Recently, I learned about the problems with seed oils / vegetable oils. Search Teicholz and Unknown Story on YouTube.
But enough of that. We dropped in for breakfast this week. I asked about cooking fats and the server said they only use butter. The diner is run by Greeks (I think), who cook like mama used to cook. Ordered coffee, a western omelet, buttered white toast and home fried potatoes.
If you have not had an omelet and home fries cooked in butter, you are missing a real treat. It's just golden deliciousness. The coffee is dark and delicious as well. Endless cup too. Very friendly service.
The Arlington diner is my new go-to for breakfast in the Cambridge area. Highly recommended.
Update. Came back. July 2024. Spoke to a chef. He said ‘vegetable oils are poison.’ Had ribeye steak and eggs. Huge portions. Delicious with buttery flavor. $18! So...
Read moreSo not sure what has happened to this place. New owner??? New waitstaff??? Something terrible has happened to this place. Food quality has gone DOWN (as have the portion sizes). Wait staff service has gone DOWN (slow, preoccupied, inattentive). Went today and out of three orders only 1 was correct. Waitress was so inattentive. Never came back to refill coffees. Never came back to check on table. Had to flag her down to get the check and she forgot about giving us that. There were about 6 or 7 full tables out of over 25 with 2 waitresses. Not overcrowded by any means. I use to come here at least once a week and ordered take out at least 3 or 4 times a month on top of that. Looks like Classic Cafe in the Heights will be getting my business from now on. With few full serve breakfast places in town, this place really needs to step up it's game. You can't get by with poor service and average food quality. ...
