Captain D's — Restaurant in Arnold Township

I know this is so cliche to say, but if I could give 0 stars I would. I was craving some fried fish, and I had memories of Captain D’s when I was little. My boyfriend and I went there on the weekend. We should have known it wouldn’t turn out well due to the sheer amount of parking spaces there were. They were dead. We ordered ahead online, and went to pick it up. We were super hungry so we pulled into a parking spot to get a few bites in. I started with the fries and they were cold and stale. I usually don’t really care about those things cause I fully understood that it’s a fast food place. Well… I got near to the bottom of my fries and boom. There was a short hair in my fries. This is absolutely inexcusable. I went in and let them know and they remade it for me, which was nice since their fish is much better when fresh, however really greasy (but it’s fried so it makes sense I guess). My food turned out fine but I couldn’t finish it all. My boyfriend also didn’t finish his. His Mac n cheese tasted like plastic, but that’s beside my point. A few days have passed and I opened our food and found yet another hair in my boyfriend’s food. And it wasn’t his because he has long hair. I’m really frustrated when I spend good money on things like this and it’s just horrible. I hope these employees try to figure out the root of the problem because that’s horrible, and I will never ever return to this place. Absolutely disgusting. Go to long John silvers instead, they’re much better...

I've never heard of this place before, but I've been craving Seafood so decided to try it while I was passing through. I'm from from louisiana, grew up less than an hour from the coast! I've Loved Seafood all my life, so I know good seafood when I taste it haha! I also don't give five stars often or lightly! I got the "sampler platter" or whatever it's called. Some of the stuff on it was average, definitely nothing to complain about. Like the Mac and cheese, stuffed crab, and the fries. But were they REALLY blew me away was with the fish and the hushpuppies!!! The hushpuppies were absolutely spot-on, perfectly seasoned, warm and crispy on the outside, soft fluffy and moist on the inside! And the batter on that fried fish, talked about an explosion of flavor!! I've never had a piece of fish from a restaurant that was seasoned so well!! It caught me so off guard I literally said OMG out loud when I took the first bite!!! Absolutely DELICIOUS, I would recommend it...

Great Staff; Terrible Food

Visited on a Saturday afternoon in November, at about 3:45. The fish was terribly dry, and the fish fillets were more like fish sticks (you can see from the photo that I posted, with a French fry for comparison, that I'm not exaggerating). The fillet was only slightly larger than the fry. The hush puppies, while good, are the size of a small chicken nugget. The clam strips were very good, but the butterfly shrimp were cold. The devilled crabs were smashed and the shell of one was broken, leaving bits of shell in each bite.

While Captain D's used to be "a great little seafood place," this visit left me wanting! It was really a very poor experience, and I didn't feel like I got my money's worth.
