Papa John's in Arnold MO... Avoid at ALL cost! This particular night, I had gotten off work late and could not cook for my two teens and myself. So I tried to find a quick solution for all to share. I get there and their cooks and management alike are outside smoking, sitting on the ground, some playing in the dirt. They see me and jump to it. I get inside and there is one cook, doing his thing, music in his ears, not a bother in the world. I wait for someone to greet me. The MOD comes in and takes my order. The others are still outside. I pulled her aside and requested/suggested that her team outside thoroughly wash their hands before entering the kitchen. She assured me none of those guys would be touching any food this evening. I mentioned that I had managed a similar restaurant and believe that safety, sanitation and service is key to keeping the building open. She takes my order and joins her buddies outside. She must have Repeated our conversation to them and they all came flocking in. And where do I see these boys head to? Ye kitchen. Tossing dough and topping them. I shook my head, looked them dead in the eyes and requested the manager. She comes out and I ask for a refund. She asked why. I tell her. She then proceeded to say that they did not touch my pizza. I reminded her again about my standards. She threw a fit and I ended up recording it. She exclaims that she doesn't care, this and that. I walk out wondering now what? MOD was right around the corner and in my 13 years living in the Jefferson county area, I thought, why not, try it. I get in there... first impressions, "oh no... homemade looking crusts... where are the toppings?" I also noticed the associates in the kitchen are all wearing gloves. Sold me them and there. I built my own and hoped for the best. The service was incredible!!! I asked these teens to explain a little about the company to me and the girl that took my order was happy to. I tipped her the Lowe's because I had limited funds. But remembered her incredible service and the young man who cooked my food. I foo home uncertain about the taste. My kids and I dug in. Mouth watering surprise!!! Pricey, but oh so worth every dime. I've found my new local pizza place. My kids woke up at 7am and finished the leftovers the next day, leaving me proud that they loved their non requested veggies and meat combo on a thick crust. We will return to the MOD pizza located in Arnold MO, again, and again, and again, till I leave this city! Thank you for this amazing idea and valuing your brand enough to put decent human beings on the front lines for...
Read moreMOD pizza = "Hipster Pizza Place" in my dictionary that serves a disappointing pizza. Upon first entering the resturant I could visualize myself in Seattle Washington (MOD's hometown) at a small corner pizzeria. Natural wood, subway tiles, bright lighting, and a large built in faux wood pizza oven are the prominent architectural details. The ordering process here is reminiscent of a Subway of pizza. The pizza is put together in front of you with 30 toppings you can choose from. MOD advertises that you can have as many toppings as you want for no extra charges. The pizzas are availiable in 3 sizes with an 11" pizza being the most popular. In theory the pizza is cooked to perfection in the faux pizza oven at very high temperatures for a short period of time. A corner stone of their advistisment is very fast pizza. So for my experience this was not the case. The pizza was ordered over the phone and paid for as we drove to the store. Time from order to my hands was 23 minutes. No faster than any other pizza restaurant. As for pizza quality I was not impressed. It reminded me of a pizza you would get from Cici's Pizza or from a value frozen pizza. Crust was dry, very little sauce, hardly any cheese, and the pepperoni and bacon toppings I requested were sparse. The cheesy garlic bread that was also ordered was a slab of bread with a little bit of cheese and some garlic salt on it. (My guess at least) I had high hopes for this young pizza chain but the big dogs in town are all producing a better product...
Read moreI'd give 6 stars or more if I could. We were in at around 8:15, 8:30 pm on Monday, 6/14/21. There were only 2 people working behind the counter that we could see, a young man with blondish hair and glasses and a neck or shoulder length dark haired younger woman. First of all, they were very polite and friendly with us, but we were really impressed with how they worked when they got slammed. We watched as at least about 25 guests or so, online and in person came in right after us, in probably a span of 10 minutes or so. They were extremely quick, worked with a sense of urgency, but were very precise and systematic. A lot of workers would have gotten frazzled and disorganized in that situation, but they did a masterful job of handling it. It was awesome to see that after seeing so many restaurant workers in other businesses just go through the motions and not make any real effort for the customer, especially a lot of younger kids on evening shifts. Also, the pizza I had from them was probably the best thin crust pizza I've ever had, and probably the best pizza I've had outside of Chicago, period (Chicago Style pizza fan). The ratio of ingredients was perfect, and the pizza was cooked absolutely perfect with just the right amount of melting in the cheese, and a perfect crispiness to the crust. These two are truly an asset to Mod Pizza, and we will definitely be making this our goto Mod Pizza location in the St. Louis area from now on. ...
