I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at Bhookhe was disappointing enough to warrant one. Despite the restaurant’s decent interior and promising look from the outside, the reality inside was far from acceptable.

The food was of shockingly low quality—bland, poorly prepared, and lacking any real flavor. Frankly, it felt like no care or effort was put into the dishes. For a place that calls itself a restaurant, serving food this bad is simply not acceptable.

To make things worse, our table was dirty when we arrived, with used plates still there. Hygiene clearly isn’t a priority. The only server on duty was polite, but visibly overworked—she was taking orders and serving all by herself, and didn’t seem very welcoming or attentive. One person handling the entire floor is not just bad service management—it’s unfair to both the customers and the employee.

Now, to the manager—arguing with customer reviews instead of addressing the genuine issues raised is not how you run a restaurant. Instead of defending poor performance, put that energy into improving the quality of your food and service. Feedback is a tool for growth, not a fight to win.

In short, Bhookhe may look good, but the food and experience were a major letdown. I sincerely hope the team takes this as constructive criticism and focuses on real improvement rather than excuses.

It’s extremely disappointing to see that the owner of Bhookhe is more invested in writing argumentative replies to guest reviews than actually improving the food quality at the restaurant. Instead of listening to genuine feedback and acknowledging mistakes, the focus seems to be on defending poor service and subpar food – which is frankly unprofessional and unacceptable in the hospitality industry.

What’s even more shocking is the audacity to reply to customer reviews in the middle of the night – not with humility or concern – but with arrogance and denial. Rather than taking accountability and making real improvements, the management prefers to argue with guests who are simply sharing their honest experiences.

It’s a shame that energy is being wasted on defending what can only be described as badly prepared food, rather than correcting it. If you put half the effort into your kitchen that you put into your review responses, Bhookhe might actually serve something worth coming back for.

Please take this as a wake-up call – not every negative review is an attack. Sometimes, it’s your last chance to make...

[Sept 9, 2023] First time an authentic Rajasthani cuisine in town (Artesia), fully vegetarian. I kept myself super hungry for the evening to have the famous "Maharaja Thali" which comes with too many options in it. And believe me, you need to be super hungry to finish all that alone. It includes daal baati (with ghee separately, do not forget about it to put it on baati, 3 regular baatis, 1 masala baati), and daal was super yummy. Churma (5), Kadi (4), gatte ki sabzi (4) [gatta was soft enough and yet yummy, gravy could have been little thicker, but it was very good if not excellent], 3 type of Rotis (1-Bajra, 1-Besan, 1-Regular Rajasthani Roti - a little thick compared to North Indian Rotis, and I love all of 'em) (5), Rice, laddoo (very yummy), Chaash (Buttermilk-4), Moong Daal Halwa (5), boondi raita (5*), garlic chutney, and couple of other delicacies as well - See I already forgot some names. "Sartaz Thali" for my teenage daughter and her comment was "I never this kind of daal makhani ever in USA". It was so delicious. She did not allow us to taste it even. Contents: Daal Makhani (5), kadai paneer (4), 2 Lachha Paratha (4), Boondi Raita (5), Gulab Jamun (4), Samosa (4) + chutney (5*), Rice and Chaash (Buttermilk).

Pyaaz Kachori (4), and Mirchi bada (3). In Rajasthan, especially in Jodhpur, Mirchi Bada, Pyaaz Ki Kachori, and Shahi Samosas are hot selling products... this restaurant used their best efforts to bring the same taste here in Artesia for us. A place one must visit to taste an authentic (or near authentic) Rajasthani food.

Owners: Anshul and Pooja Dwivedi, they are sweet couple! Anshul visit to each table and request feedback, and ensures that diners are happy.

We visited around 8.30 pm (Restaurant closes at 9.00pm) and we got the table quickly (within 5 mins). a lot of menu options! I will have to try Ghewar (Sweet), Anshul and Pooja told us that they get it from Jaipur every week. we live very nearby (within 5 miles) and will definitely visit on a weekday as weekends are super crazy and long queue. And after food, try "Paan".

Parking: Street and paid (first hours free), nice little India Town with lots of Indian shops around...

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The staff seemed completely disorganized and indifferent.

Cleanliness was also a huge issue. The floor was sticky, the tables were greasy, and the bathrooms were filthy. Honestly, I’m shocked this place is still operating — it felt like a health hazard.

First of all, the food had nothing to do with real Rajasthani cuisine. It tasted bland and lacked any of the richness or depth of flavor that makes Indian food so special. It was like someone had read about Indian spices but never actually used them.

What made it even worse? They’re charging premium prices — yet they serve the food in paper plates with plastic cutlery. For the amount we paid, we expected at least a proper dining experience. Instead, it felt like eating at a low-effort food court stall, not a restaurant.

The hygiene and cleanliness were shocking. When we walked in, several tables still had used plates and leftover food on them. When we left nearly an hour later, nothing had been cleaned. The staff walked past those tables multiple times and ignored them. I genuinely felt like I was sitting next to a dumpster — it was that bad.

To top it all off, my friend posted a review — and instead of taking feedback seriously, the owner responded with arrogance, trying to act like a “cool dude” while being completely unprofessional. No apology, no responsibility, just sarcasm and attitude. That tells you everything you need to know about how they run the place.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Avoid it if you care about quality food, hygiene, or respectful service.

If you care about your hard-earned money and your self-respect, please avoid...

If you are looking for a taste of Rajasthan, a state in northern India known for its deserts, palaces, and culture, then you should visit Bhookhe, the only Rajasthani restaurant in LA. The owners, Anshul and Pooja Dwivedi, are from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, and they have brought their authentic recipes and hospitality to Artesia. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes that showcase the rich and diverse flavors of Rajasthani cuisine, You will find dishes made with dried lentils, beans, spices, yogurt, and ghee (clarified butter), as well as breads made with different grains such as cornmeal, pearl millet, and wheat. One of the best ways to sample the Rajasthani food is to order the maharani thali, a platter of small breads, chutneys, pickles, curries, and desserts that is meant to be shared and enjoyed with your hands. bati, a baked dough ball that you break and dip in ghee and dal. The curries range from spicy to mild, and feature ingredients such as dried lotus seeds, yogurt, fenugreek, and chickpeas. The desserts are sweet and creamy, such as the malpua, a fried pancake soaked in sugar syrup, and the rabri, a thickened milk pudding. Churma ladoo was too good !! Another dish that you should not miss is the dal khachori, a deep-fried pastry stuffed with a spiced dal filling. The khachori is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also we tried chole bhatura, chole was actually northern indian style ( Black chole ) The service at Bhookhe is friendly and attentive, and the owners are always happy to explain the dishes and share their stories. The restaurant has a cozy and colorful atmosphere, with paintings and decorations that reflect the Rajasthani culture. Bhookhe is a must-try for anyone who loves Indian food and wants to experience something different and authentic. It is a place where you can satisfy your hunger and your curiosity, and discover the flavors of Rajasthan.

Maharani Thali fed me like a king, but breaking the baati felt like a royal challenge! Food: The restaurant delivered an authentic and flavorful Indian dining experience, with a mix of traditional and rich dishes. - Maharani Thali: This grand platter was worth every penny, offering a hearty and fulfilling meal. The portion size was generous enough for two people if paired with appetizers. The dal and sweets were excellent, maintaining an authentic taste. However, the baati was a bit too hard, making it difficult to break, which could have been improved. - Shahi Paneer: This dish was the star of the meal—one of the best paneer sabzis I’ve had so far. The gravy-to-paneer ratio was perfect, with a well-balanced blend of spices and sweetness, making every bite satisfying. Service: The service was prompt and attentive. The staff was courteous, ensuring a smooth dining experience without long wait times. Ambience: The restaurant’s ambience reflected a traditional yet elegant Indian vibe, making it a great place for a sit-down meal. The decor and overall setting enhanced the dining experience, making it feel both warm and inviting. Pricing: The pricing was justified for the quality and quantity of food served. The Maharani Thali was a great value for money, given the variety of dishes included, and the Shaadi Paneer felt like a premium dish worth its price. Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5) A must-visit for lovers of Indian cuisine, offering flavorful dishes, generous portions, and good service. A slight improvement in the baati’s texture would have made it a perfect meal.

It is easy to miss this place driving by as it is small and located next to Udupi, a well known South Indian restaurant chain. Parking can be challenging on a busy afternoon but that is the case with most restaurants on Pioneer. The place itself is relatively new but the food is amongst the best I have had in the United States. We came in hungry and was greeted by the friendly owner who took our order and explained the menu items to us. We ordered the papdi chaat and the Maharaja Thali, both of which were delicious and bursting with contrasting flavors. We really enjoyed the three types of roti, baatis, daal and the spicy red chutney. Each bite tasted distinct and you could taste the quality of homemade Rajastani food. Sampling different items on the Thali was an experience in and of itself. I don't understand what some of these poorly written, negative reviews are about. As someone who likes to dine out, the prices are more than fair and the portions are filling. Maybe the service was a bit slow during peak hours but those are things that can be easily fixed. I am not a vegetarian but I loved their food. Maybe other restaurants in the area need to do some quality control instead of serving stale food, delivering poor & inconsistent service and expecting that the customers will somehow keep returning. Leaving fake reviews on a family-owned restaurant trying to drive them out of business is really trashy and makes you look petty more than anything else.
