We were excited to try this place out but at the end it was nothing but disappointment. We went on a Thursday afternoon and ordered a cheese dosa & lassi for the kids. A Chinese sizzler for the adults. When we got the dosa, they had filled it chilis which we discovered when my 17 month old and 5 year old started eating it. The dosa batter was also sour which means it was old. We took the dosa back, they made a new cheese dosa but again, old batter.

The worst was the mango lassi which ended up staining all of mouths, my kids clothes. They added YELLOW FOOD COLORING to it. Who does that? It was a ridiculous amount of food coloring too. our hands, teeth, tongue, everything was stained. My 17 month old threw it all (lassi and dosa) up an hour later and my 5 year old complained about a tummy ache. It was so bad.

The sizzler was ok..nothing bad nothing special.

If you want a place that uses a week old batter and a tooooon of food coloring in their food, this is the place. Honestly, if I read that they put food coloring in their lassi or food, I would NEVER ever let my kids eat there. If they are putting it in their lassi, there is no doubt that they are adding it to other things. Try...

Food here might be decent but I'd give service 1 star. Who i'm assuming to be a manager was borderline belligerent when informed the staff we had been waiting an hour for our food.

Multiple people behind us in line received their orders before us and we realized that other people were starting to take other people's orders off of the counter (since we all got the same thing), or they had simply forgotten about us after 45 minutes. This man proceeds to blame his staff and attempt to gaslight us into believing that we had not ordered at a specific time even when we had the receipt to prove it. He refused to accept responsibility and tried to serve us cold food instead. We've been coming here for years and I've honestly loved this restaurant and never had any problems. I'm gravely disappointed that a grown man can act this way and refuse be accountable for his own actions. I understand customer service can be frustrating and the customer is definitely not always right but there are ways to handle a situation and this was not it.

Update: He later apologized as my family and I were leaving which I greatly appreciate but it doesn't excuse his behavior...

Rasraj Artesia:

Rasrj.. Name itself claiming they are the King of Taste and the food here proves it too.

During my visit to Rasraj, I was not disappointed. Perfect blend of Taste / Masala /Spices and Indian taste. Many Indian restaurants I have tried , have changed the taste to adjust the palates of americans, but here it is not the case. Most of the dishes were close to Indian roots.

Very well prepared food. Exhaustive menu to choose from where you will get North to south and east to west Indian food / sweets and what not. Some of the dishes will remind you of India.

Many snacks you can bring it home too. They are fresh and crispy. Competitive price compared to taste. Good quality and quantity which reflects the balance. The palanpuri chevo was superb.

If you talk about the staff, they are so kind and nice to you. Politely they talk with you. You can find lots of tv in the restaurants where you can watch your favourite cricket / watch Indian Bollywood songs. Dining area is clean too. Go to place if you fond of Indian food. The thali --- a typical Indian Thali is worth trying for apart from Ala carte menu.

We tried this place to change it up… But unfortunately it was a let down. The mixed sizzler and Chana bhatura were good. The Thali was expensive and not good… nothing was warm and there was a Chana curry that tasted spoiled and when we told the elder gentleman at the cash. He immediately shook his head and said that it was extra… like it wasn’t originally included in the Thali and did nothing about it. We ordered another sizzler this time it was the paneer sizzler and when it was ready it wasn’t even sizzling lol The onions were raw and the cheese added on top wasn’t even melted. I wasn’t going to say anything but then I thought for $16 I’d better go let them know. The gentleman took it into the kitchen and heated it up longer which I appreciated but thought the sizzlers were the saving grace but they couldn’t even be consistent with that. I do not recommend this restaurant. I feel they definitely have potential but definitely need to work harder at it.

Rasraj in Artesia is a gem for lovers of authentic Indian street food. Their dhokla is perfectly soft and fluffy, with just the right balance of tanginess and spice. The variety of chaats is outstanding—bursting with flavor and freshness in every bite. The freshly squeezed sugarcane juice is a refreshing treat, especially on a warm day, and their paan is the perfect way to end the meal, packed with authentic ingredients and a delightful touch of sweetness. A must-visit for anyone craving vibrant, flavorful Indian snacks!
