"It's an explosion of flavor in your mouth" -said my friend as she was giving me the lowdown of what she ordered for our group. And yes, it was nothing short of that.
This was my first time having authentic Indian street food and it was so delicious. Where has this been all my life?? Everything I had was full of flavor and spice. So SO good.
**this review is mainly for newbs to this food... heh
We started with the Pani Puri. It consists of a round, hollow, fried pastry shell filled with chutney, chili, potato, onion and chickpeas. You fill the shell with a cilantro water to the brim and consume the bite sized snack in one bite. Wow, explosion of flavor, texture and spice. Warning: You must be able to handle spice!! I came with someone who couldn't hang; yay more for me :]] Just kidding, I shared. These are so delicious; we each had our own order of Pani Puri (6 per order)
Masala dosa: Think a thin, slightly sweet crepe stuffed with potato in the middle. This comes with a soup (lentil like) and coconut cream sauce as sides. You can dip dosa in these sauces or just eat them by themselves. You can also order the dosa without the potato in the middle. The dosa was slightly sweet and nicely crisped on the outside. This was a nice balance to the heat and flavors from the other dishes.
Delhi Chaat: Fried pastry shells mixed with potatoes, chickpeas, beans covered with a yogurt sauce and sweet/spicy sauces. Very delicious. Those shells stayed crispy to the very last bite.
Bhel Puri: Rice puffs with potatoes, beans, onions, cilantro covered with a sweet and spicy sauce. Also very delicious. This was more refreshing and lighter than the delhi chaat. Wonderful blend of flavor and texture from the puffs, beans and oninons.
Chole Bhature: Like Naan, but not oily. It comes with this chickpea stew/soup that you dip the bread in. The bread was soft and yummy. I liked this soup flavor better than the one that came with the dosa.
All in all, everything I tried was full of flavor and tastiness. Not to mention, our dinner was less that $9 and we were stuffed. Now I just need...
Read moreFood quality has gone down really bad I order Masala Dosa and ask the cashier that I will be back in few minutes as the orders take 15 to 20 minutes on weekdays and 30 to 45 minutes on weekends. When I got back my food was sitting on counter no one there I got my glasses of water and took my food started eating dosa was hard and rubber like and sambar was spoiled probably due too heat or could be from couple of days when Address the issue an attendant started arguing n offering the refund. It’s not always about money as I m a regular customer and this place have large turnover of employees and 75%of the time attendants are not paying attention to customers order n request as these are H1students who think this is an entertaining job who cares as they are here as temp employees. So they are talking to other fellow attendants n messing up orders. In the past they couldn’t find my order I was waiting for 45 minutes when ask for my order. Restaurant have to understand food quality has to be consistent, they have also forgotten in the past to give my full order and I had to go back to pick up the rest. But I think the owners don’t care as they get new customers who cares if the old one comes back. My complaint is hire people who are there to work and not just for fun because it’s an Indian restaurant doesn’t mean you treat Indians differently. Someone in management need to look into this issue as u know few of my friends have boycotted this place. Good luck to the owners with their future...
Read moreI recently visited with high expectations, hoping to enjoy a quality Indian meal. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by some of the poorest customer service I have encountered.
When I went to place my order, the staff member at the register greeted us with a noticeably rude and dismissive attitude. Initially, I assumed it was a one-off moment, but when I returned to order again, I was met with the same unhelpful and unfriendly demeanor. He displayed similar rudeness toward another couple who had a few questions about their order. The woman was polite and patient, yet he responded curtly and even later mocked her to his colleagues after she left. This was not an isolated incident, which made it clear this wasn’t just an off day for him. The judgmental looks and unwelcoming attitude left a lasting negative impression.
As for the food, it was average, which would have been fine if the service had been even slightly better. However, the experience at the register overshadowed everything else. Friendly service is an essential part of any dining experience, and it was disappointing to see this lacking here.
I hope Surati Farsan takes this feedback constructively and encourages their staff to provide a more welcoming and professional experience. A bit of courtesy and attentiveness could significantly enhance the dining experience for...
