I recently visited Udupi restaurant in Artesia and wanted to share my experience. Overall, I would rate it 3 stars.
Firstly, I must commend the restaurant for their delicious Chole bhature. The combination of spicy chickpea curry and fluffy bhature bread was simply mouth-watering. The flavors were authentic and reminded me of the street-side stalls in India. The portion size was generous, and it was definitely the highlight of my meal.
On the other hand, I found the average/dry paper dosa to be disappointing. The dosa lacked the crispy texture that I expected, and it seemed like it had been sitting out for too long. The flavor was also quite bland. I believe they could significantly improve this dish by making it fresher and more flavorful.
When it came to the kids dosa, it was decent but nothing extraordinary. The dosa itself was thin and crispy, appealing to children who prefer a lighter taste. However, I was expecting it to be served with some sort of accompaniment or filling to make it more exciting for the kids. It felt a bit plain and lacking in that aspect.
In terms of service, the staff was friendly and attentive. They took our orders promptly and were helpful in explaining the menu. The ambiance of the restaurant was clean and comfortable, making it a pleasant place to dine.
Overall, my experience at Udupi restaurant in Artesia was a mix of positives and negatives. While their Chole bhature was outstanding, the average/dry paper dosa and kids dosa did not live up to my expectations. I would recommend this place if you're specifically looking for great Chole bhature, but for other South Indian dishes, there might be better options available...
Read moreSo I decided to try a different place so we went to udupi. The dosa was okay it was fresh. There was only one coconut sauce But other tomato sauce was missing. And the biggest disaster was the Sambhar. It look like they just makes a spoon of spices in cold water there was no vegetables in it. It was it was not authentic at all which makes this place look like cheesy. The other thing we tried was the thali, The breads were very chewy and not fresh, The only thing which was eatable was the boiled rice and the yellow dall. The sweet dish was okay. When it comes to service there was a girl name tanu , she was okay very humble very courteous but the main guy who was giving kind of instructions to all. I asked him to give me some water he came in he poured so fast that it's splattered on our food and everywhere. If he's the boss of the servers that does not mean he can do everything whatever he wants. He needs to be trained again how to serve water. Another server was Hill, he was good he helped me in getting some sauces and spices to make my food delicious. But I will say no The food was pretty below average The only thing which was good and eatable was the Rava masala special dosa. Other than that it's total waste of money. The owner should be attention that the neighbor restaurants are providing so much of good stuff that I don't know if this place can survive for a long time. I cannot put names of the other good restaurants in the area but I will say if I have to rate udupi in 10 other restaurants this will be at the 11th place. I was surprised that such a big name has such a below...

I recently (an hour ago) ordered portal and veg uttapam from Udupi Palace, but my excitement quickly turned to dismay. Upon opening the parcel, I was greeted by a culinary disaster. The uttapam was bland, over-salted, and reeked of bad oil. The sambhar was unrecognizable with peas and bell peppers – an unusual addition. When I contacted the restaurant to express my concerns, the staff member denied any possibility of peas and bell peppers being in the sambhar, questioning my credibility and hung up abruptly. The pongal was equally disappointing, featuring: • Uncooked toor dal/chana dal chunks • Excessive ginger pieces • Overpowering red chilli powder and turmeric • Unbalanced flavor Unfortunately, my experience was a far cry from the authentic South Indian cuisine I've come to expect. I would strongly advise against visiting Udupi Palace for a satisfying meal. Save your money and explore better options. Staff is very unprofessional and rude. Rating: 1/5 stars Recommendation: Avoid this restaurant for authentic South Indian cuisine I also noticed that all the good reviews seem to come from Local Guides (if you know what I mean), while actual reviews with genuine feedback rarely...
