BETWEEN THE REVIEWS w/ Rodney S
Q)Where did you go for lunch, Rodney? A)I haven't had Indian food in a good while, Rodney, so I thought I'd hit up a new spot in Little India. New Flavor of India has been bookmarked by me, so I decided to check it off my list.
Q)Did you order off the menu, or decide on the AYCE lunch buffet? A)Lunch buffet all the way! I usually go for lunch buffet whenever I dine out for India food. New Flavor of India's lunch buffet is a little pricier than other more established restaurants located in Little India at $11.99.
Q)What did you think of the buffet, Rodney? A)I found New Flavor of India's lunch buffet limited in terms of selection. The usual suspects were represented - tandoori chicken, dal makhani, biryani, saag paneer, butter chicken etc. I mainly focused on the tender goat curry, which was really good.
Q)Was there a good dessert spread? A)Yes, Rodney, the dessert options were nice. Mixed fruit, an Indian type of funnel cake and corn meal balls satiated my sweet tooth. The star, though, was the sweet gajar halwa. I know it's traditionally served warm, but I believe it would be quite nice chilled, especially considering the dog days of August we're currently in.
Q)Final thoughts on New Flavor of India, Rodney? A)I had a perfectly good lunch at New Flavor of India. The price either should be lower or there should be more items available. The service was nice & the owner let me know he always listens to customer feedback, and changes things he deems necessary to. The highlights, for me, were the goat curry & gajar halwa. I look forward to coming back & trying the rest of the...
Read moreNOT WEARING A MASK DURING THE PANDEMIC! I ordered a small side and waited almost 40 minutes which was a long time but I didn't mind because I think it's worth it for good food. However, my discomfort and reason for one star review is because a short young man with a beard, wearing sweats and sandels walked in without a mask. He walked all the way to the counter when there was a little line and started speaking with the man working the register. Then went to the back of the line and then kept going up to the counter speaking to the man and woman who worked there...ALL WHILE NOT WEARING A MASK. judging by their interactions he seemed to know the people there and was the first to get his food when 5 other people ordered before him. He had this arrogance and entitlement (clearly he felt he didn't need to wear a mask in the middle of a pandemic) about him. Oh and did I mention that he also sat and ate his food there when indoor dining is not allowed?? This honestly grossed me out and I will not be...
Read moreGave it 2 stars because I personally did not enjoy the food quality, but some might.
Here's what to watch out for: Your order might be overly sweet, even for a dish you thought couldn't be sweet. Raisins (i think) in the vegetable samosas Don't order the garlic naan
I got the tikka masala the spiciest i could but it came out not at all spicy. it actually tasted like they had put sugar in it. I also ordered a mango lassi.
The mango lassi was a bit disappointing it tasted like mango syrup blended with plain yogurt and nothing else.
The garlic naan i think isn't worth buying over plain naan. I could hardly taste the garlic or the herbs on it. it also has a lot of fennel in it, so maybe that's for you! definitely not me though.
idk how to put it but it feels like the food that one auntie makes, you know the one, who always makes every dish different or adds something...
