Deep diving into Indian/Pakistani bread
Naan, dosa, now it's time for paratha! Paratha Grill occupies the former home of Little India Grill. I was originally planning to eat lunch buffet at a nearby restaurant, only to find their buffet is only on Sundays. So, seeing how I've been meaning to try paratha (& Paratha Grill) for the first time, it seemed pondering upon a contingency wasn't necessary.
To get the most bang for the buck, I went with the Special Paratha Combo. The combo entails a choice of select paratha & a side choice of select curries. Vegetarian $8.99, Non-veg $10.99.
Gobi paratha & dhaba chicken (special paratha combo)- The dhaba chicken had 3 pieces of drumstick. It had a good amount of heat, not enough to burn out my palate. The curry was delicious when sopped up in the paratha.
Speaking of paratha, the gobi (cauliflower) paratha was thin, and had an excellent burnt crisp exterior. The minced onions, cilantro, cauliflower & other accoutrement added flavor & texture to a hearty, filling dish. Each piece torn by hand & dipped into the dhaba chicken - perfection!
Service was good. I arrived & gave my order for dine-in. The wait seemed a little longer than expected, but they seemed busy with takeout orders. Tables are inside, with 3 tables outside. I sat outside to enjoy the warm day. It seemed there isn't air conditioning inside, so I imagine it can become quite stuffy during the hot summer. Parking is via a private lot shared by other businesses. Paratha Grill is located south of Seafood House, within the Pioneer Center in Little India.
I actually liked paratha better than the dosa I had at a nearby restaurant. The thinner, crispier texture was much more pleasing to eat. The Special Paratha Combo is a great deal, and I'm looking forward to coming back and, perhaps ordering their...
Read moreI ordered the "Non-Vegan" as per the menu name. I said it three times initially in a very clear way. After they gave me a vegan plate, I asked if there was chicken, since I ordered the non-vegan. I went out of the restaurant to double-check the menu, and it did indeed say chicken. I asked the cashier if it was the NON-Vegan and he said yes. I asked him about the chicken and then he finally understood it, after me saying "Non-Vegan" and "chicken" more than six times, asking multiple times throughout five minutes.
The cashier said he would need to charge me a dollar more. Fine, I just want what I ordered and have been saying for a total of 10 minutes now.
Finally got what I ordered and it was alright. Really spicy, but that's normal I guess. I asked about the drink price, it was three times the price next door. Fair enough, restaurant upcharge.
Overall, food was okay, piss poor service and horrible choice in menu item name. Staff needs training on the difference between the words "Vegan" and...

Approximately around 10:30 a.m. This time I ordered the Chole Bhatura over the phone for dine in. Reason being to give ample time to the local to prepare the Oil at certain temperature to have a good fluff bhuatura.
However the oil was not properly hot and the bhautura was not full rather uncooked and tasted like dough.
I shared the concern with the employee and told him my concern and he said it's not fluff because we use paper towel to push down on bhatura to absorb excess oil. It was nothing but clear B/s.
The review below is about a year ago and still stands.
Lesson learned is only ear kulcha here pass the bhuatura in the morning.
Picture below shows sad state of bhatura. Awesome place, can't go wrong. Self serve...
