Hit up Mission BBQ in Arvada, and wow, these folks get it right. I went for the 3-meat plate (brisket, smoked sausage, and pulled pork), and every single bite was on point. Killer dry rub, perfect smoke, and just the right balance of flavor without needing to drown it in sauce.
Speaking of sauces theyāre all legit, but that Smoky Mountain one? š„ Thatās the champ right there.
And the Mac nā Cheese... man, thatās next-level comfort food. Probably the best Iāve had at any BBQ spot, and Iāve been to a lot across the Midwest and South. Creamy, cheesy, and flat-out awesome.
Bonus points for having Hawaiian Punch on tap didnāt see that coming, and Iām here for it.
But what really makes this place stand out is their heart. Mission BBQ backs our military and first responders in a real way, not just talk, they actually support and give back.
Bottom line: great food, great people, great mission. Iāll 100% be back for more. šŗšøš„
UPDATE to my original review:
Heard some murmurs floating around, folks at other restaurants grumbling that Mission BBQ doesnāt serve booze. Letās clear that up right now.
Mission BBQ is exactly what itās supposed to be: traditional, family-first barbecue. Down South, the majority BBQ joints donāt sell alcohol. Never have. You come for the food, the respect, and the company, not a bar tab.
The noise about āno boozeā is just that, white noise from transplants who think everything needs a beer or a blunt to be enjoyable. Mission BBQ stays on mission. Keep...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI know this is new and only 1 of 2 in Colorado so it's not going to be 100% perfect. Been looking for a BBQ place to try and this sold me with the Pepsi. Parking lot is extremely clean which if you know Arvada this is a true gem. I was immediately greeted as soon as I walked in the door. The cashier flagged me to her cash register. Settled on a Brisket Sandwich and Coleslaw. Was extremely busy on a Thursday afternoon so only a few places to sit. They call out your name when you're order is done so that does be come challenging when it's busy. The brisket was juicy. Even the chicken sample I got was juicy. They have different bbq sauces to try. Settled on a sweet one. I was not a fan of the Coleslaw. I like mine saucy. Other than fries really wasn't impressed by the other side choices. I hope they improve this but if you like baked beans and collar greens then you're all set. They keep the sauces well stocked and the dinning room clean. Offered to take my tray. Decore reminded me of a garage with military memorabilia. They have a Veteran Reserve spot. Which I thought was cute but I think it should be purple heart Parking š. I'd definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been here a couple of times now and have ordered at least half of the menu so here's my take. It's pretty solid bbq overall and the service is very quick and extremely friendly. The theme is very "veteran" and "first responder" focused, though neither of the founders have ever been veterans or first responders. Aside from the somewhat obvious pandering, the food is pretty solid and the service is over the top good. You're greeted by very friendly faces from start to finish, the moist brisket is legitimately good(my favorite), as is the pulled pork and sausage. The collards are just ok... a little bland, with a style I've never seen done anywhere else (tomatoes?). The mac and cheese is pretty solid. They have an assortment of 6 different bbq sauces, though I was surprised to not see a mustard based sauce as part of the group and most of the sauces go towards the sweet side of things. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but it's solid bbq not far from me so I'll probably occasionally stop by, at least until post oak opens...
