I stopped in for the lunch buffet last week so that I could scout the place before bringing in any coworkers. I work with a bunch of people who have (gasp) never experienced the joy of eating Indian food. I used to love to go out for Indian food in Louisville KY. We had some solid places like Kashmir, Shalimar, and my favorite, the Bombay Grill. So I know decent Indian food, and I wanted to share it with my co-workers. But I needed to make sure Namaste was good enough to share.
It is! I'm happy to report the food is delicious and nicely seasoned, although the lunch buffet is kept quite mild as far as heat-spice (most Americans can't handle the heavy heat.) I think if you order dinner at Namaste you can request a level of heat, and bump it up to a nice burn. But if you are afraid of heat, there is no need to fear the lunch buffet. It has all the savory and creamy and fragrant spice notes without the hot notes. I recommend the saffron rice, and then put a small spoon of each offering in a ring around the edge of the plate. Try a bite or two of everything, then go back and get a big helping of your favorites. If you are lactose intolerant bring a Lactaid because about half the dishes have cream in them. I did not try the desserts because I am a savory guy, not a sweet guy. If you try them let us know what you thought. Last but not least on the food front, the naan bread (looks like a pita bread but is far, far better) is the best naan I have ever had. It has a delicate buttery vibe instead of the oily naan I have had at other places. My naan was perfectly cooked with hints of crispiness at the edges and a soft, steaming center. You want a touch of char in spots to add flavor, and mine had just the right amount.
As far as the building, the place is in a non-descript strip mall, but the inside is nicely decorated and the bathrooms are clean and modern. I don't like nasty bathrooms where I eat, so I always like to mention that in case anyone else uses the "bathroom test" when they go out to eat. Obviously the food is the most important thing, but I always suspect that if a place doesn't have the pride to keep a clean bathroom, they probably don't keep a clean kitchen. Namaste was clean.
I would rate them a 4+ out of 5. In order to bump up to a 5, I need to come back for dinner and put some HEAT in mine to see how it...
Read moreI wish I could rate this restaurant zero not because of food but because of the people working there, they are pathetic racist and use abusive language and it’s all because the people who work there do not communicate with each other. To explain the situation we went for a Dine-in after buying a groupon deal and upon entering into a restaurant we asked do you accept Groupon and he said yes we do and gave us a table and then someone else showed up to take our order and we placed an order..once we finish eating the guy refuse to take the groupon and started using abusing language and made racist comments against Indians even though he is running an Indian restaurant. I paid him full but wishing that no one should go to that restaurant and suffer as we did as a first time visitor to an Indian but not so Indian restaurant.
I would request everyone to avoid this kind of restaurant where people don’t understand the value and respect. If anyone can give me the owners number I would like to talk to them and ask when you hire people in your restaurant don’t you teach them how to talk and not to respect but use...
Read moreOrdered takeout and was greeted into a warm, inviting and clean dining area. The atmosphere is peaceful and comforting but elegant and truly beautiful. The server/bar tender greeted me and was very accommodating when I asked to add a carrot pudding to my order. As I was waiting he gave me an iced chai and it was absolutely perfect. spiced yet creamy, and refreshing, without being over powering. I ordered the naan and the butter chicken, which tasted fantastic, it was rich but not overpowering, with notes of star anise and a mild but flavorful bite from the tomato base. I highly recommend the carrot pudding as a sweet treat. Buttery and delicious but again, not overpowering, I’ve tried quite a few versions and found that it’s an easy dish to under/over season as carrots are sweet but plain naturally. But Namaste India did a fantastic job with making this a memorable flavor. No doubt I will be stopping by again soon and if you’ve gotten this far in the review, I hope you do as well, it’s...
