What I really like about this place is the simplicity without taking away the quality of the food, and the ambiance where you can meet up with friends for conversations while eating a simple meal.
Walking in, we were not greeted by anyone but our friends who were there already, motioning us to the table. Seated, we looked over the menu, which were filled with plenty of food choices front and back. The friends we were meeting here always get pretty much the same food: Kokoro bowl (beef and chicken), chicken bowl, and California rolls. Since we have never dined here, I chose the spider rolls and a beef bowl (super), and my husband chose the Kokoro bowl, and for $1 more, he substituted the white meat option instead of the offered dark meat.
The spider rolls I ordered came with 4 pieces of soft shell crab, fried in a batter, and were wrapped in seaweed and rice. Cooked to perfection, these rolls were so good! They tasted so fresh too. This is one food item I would like to eat again and again whenever I visit this restaurant in the future.
My beef bowl was very simple: rice underneath marinated beef with onions. It could use more juice from the beef, so I added some soy sauce, pickled ginger, and chili pepper powder. The added flavor to this dish enhanced my eating experience, because it was just enough heat for me to enjoyed the dish.
Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the staff made the eating experience here an enjoyable evening.
If you want casual Japanese food without a big price tag, give Kokoro a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by their food, prices, and service. Their two locations, conveniently located in Denver (on Colorado Blvd) and Arvada (on Wadsworth), are easy to find....
Read moreCame in to order out. I came in with friends who were staying but I had a dog in my car and just wanted to get food for my kid and leave. Waitress sat my friends. I stayed up front and said I was going to take out. Waitress said ok. Friendly ok not a questioning ok.
I stood there. No one came back. Waitress came nearby I asked if I could order. She said yes! and walked away. She swung back nearby so I asked if I ordered on an electronic device nearby- she says you can try. I try it is locked I tell her- It was locked I was unable to use it. She ignored me. I was perplexed. If I couldn’t order inside why did she tell me yes.
I sat with my friends and tried to order online. Waitress came over. I said. Can I order to go I can’t order online. She said of course and some comment about the WiFi being difficult. I fully expected her to stop and take my order. She did not. She walked away. She came back later brought food to my friends said nothing to me and walked away. I left- 15 minutes after asking multiple times if I could place an order. I know she was busy but tell me that or get someone else to take my order or tell me that there is another way to order which is better. It was ridiculous. Don’t say yes or of course...
Read moreI thought I'd come here for dinner since the food is enjoyable and I've been here many times before, but this time I had gotten a soda and welp it was in a dirty glass, so I pointed that out and the person who waited on me and they got me a new one right away, but they placed the straw from the dirty one into the new one. I pointed that out as well, the person then took out the dirty straw without replacing the soda the straw from the old one was in. When it was time for my bill I pointed that out. I was about to ask to speak with a manager when I noticed they are the manager... After I said I wasn't wanting a to go container because I had had it, I just wanted to pay for my food and leave. They did comp my meal and drink. I'm leaving two stars because it could have been worse, I got a comped meal so that's a plus. I kept getting called sir, which I hate because I've not been knighted and it feels strange being called that. Overall, this is a good restaurant with good food and I will come here again, but not for dinner. I useally come during lunch. Anyway, just wanted to leave...
