This restaurant took a reservation when they were actually closed for a private event. My partner made a reservation via OpenTable on May 20 for June 8 at 8pm. We planned a weekend trip to Asbury Park for my 40th birthday - we had visited in 2019 and enjoyed a show at Asbury Lanes. We entered at 7:55 and the customers began chiding us: "Leave - this is a wedding!" "You aren't allowed here!" Ok, but we made a reservation that was confirmed via email the day before. A staff member approached us and her first words were "how did you get in here?!" Umm, through the front door, we pointed. She seemed stressed - "this should be locked!" she said. She locked it and stood with us in the vestibule. She seemed incredulous that we made a reservation so my partner showed her our reservation confirmation and emails/texts. She said "I'm sorry but you can't be here - you need to leave." She took a pic of our registration which had my partner's name and contact info. We never heard back, which has prompted me to leave this review a 6 weeks later. My partner shared our sentiments on OpenTable but nothing came from that either. Not only did this put a damper on my 40th Birthday dinner but we were now in an unfamiliar shore town looking for a place to eat at 8pm in summer. No one at Asbury Diner made any effort to fix...
Read moreUnfortunately, this was not the experience I was expecting. I made a reservation for my boyfriend and I, and was super excited at first! We went in and loved the old timey atmosphere and went right for a malt milkshake (which was for $12). We ordered sliders thinking they were going to be decent sized ones we saw in pictures online. We got them and they were the size of dollar coins (and for about $17 for 2 sliders)! I ordered bacon jam on the side. When I reminded the waitress to grab it for me after bringing our food out, she said they’re still making the burger topping. I then sat for 15 minutes waiting for my bacon jam and trying to get her attention (we were the only table in there). She came over and asked if we were doing well. Clearly not since I had to wait 15 minutes for a burger topping letting my food get cold. She never checked on us after bringing the jam, never refilled waters. It was overall not the cozy, comfort diner experience I was hoping for. For 2 orders of TINY burgers and fries and one small milkshake, it was over $62! Unfortunately not worth it. Be careful when choosing; the diner and bowing alley are...
Read moreOk this review went from 3 to 4 to 5 stars as my experience at this restaurant progressed. It started out by me ordering a plain cheeseburger and having it served with onions and some green stuff that I did not even know what it was. Anyway I scrapped off the onions and green stuff and when I took a bite. I was treated to what could possibly be the best burger I ever had. I mean words can’t describe how good it was. It was also cooked to perfection. I could not have made a better burger myself. Also the waitress was amazing and the toilet here is clean so my experience going to the bathroom here was awesome . What I feared would be a bad experience turned into one of the best burgers I have ever had in my 45 years on this planet. I will be back! Also if you stay in the motel that is attached to this restaurant you get 25 percent off your meal which is great. My boyfriend said the chicken he got here was some of the best he ever had. In short the quality of the food here is some of the best I’ve ever had at...
