I’ve always loved the food and ambiance here. I’ve been a few times with my boyfriend, then brought my mom, and most recently brought my sister and brother because I wanted them to experience how great this place can be.
Unfortunately, during my last visit, that experience was completely overshadowed by a very uncomfortable and unprofessional interaction with the owner. I politely asked if I could hold the seat next to me at the bar (after a couple left) for my brother. The waiter kindly said it was no problem. Moments later, the owner came over and, in front of the entire restaurant, aggressively asked, “YOU see how this is a problem for me, right?” I honestly didn’t understand what he meant and said so. He asked again, even louder: “YOU see how this is a problem for me?” — like I was being reprimanded at school. It was humiliating and completely unnecessary, especially over something so minor. There was even another “dead” seat at the bar next to us.
Everyone else on staff was lovely and even apologized for his behavior, but the owner himself didn’t. Not even a nod. For a bill over $300, to be spoken to like that in front of a packed restaurant was incredibly disappointing. I stayed because we had more food coming, but honestly, I would’ve left.
Shoutout to the amazing bartender and oyster shuckers — they’re the only reason i...
Read moreThis place is outstanding and we are lucky to have it right here on the boardwalk. We have lived in Asbury Park for 5 years and have seen some places come and go but we truly hope this one is here to stay. They have only been open a short time but we have already been twice. It replaced what used to be an oyster bar in the same location.
First off, the focus is on brilliantly and simply prepared FRESH and local seafood. We have been using Local130 for our seafood purchases for home cooking for years so it was only natural that we would jump at the chance to have the same ridiculously fresh seafood professionally prepared for us in a cozy setting on the boardwalk/convention hall. For context, Local130 supplies some of the top restaurants in the area, so you know it’s good.
The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and everything was absolutely perfectly prepared. I’ve read a couple of other reviews with posters complaining about wait times etc. I think since they just started this concept we have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Clearly there are always kinks to work out when a new place opens. But we can all be certain this isn’t some sort of corporate, PE-backed nightmare. This is locally owned and beautifully done. I see myself grabbing a seat here at least...
Read moreIf you’re on the hunt for a seafood spot that delivers on flavor, service, and atmosphere, Shucked hits the mark. The vibe was on point—laid-back but lively, with a coastal-chic aesthetic that makes you want to settle in and stay a while.
The food? Absolutely delicious. The buffalo frito was a standout—bold, tangy, and crispy in all the right ways. The ceviche was incredibly fresh, perfectly balanced with citrus. You can tell the seafood is top quality and prepared with care.
Service was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing.
Don’t miss the spicy coconut margarita. It’s the perfect cocktail to complement the bold flavors of the menu—smooth, tropical, with just enough kick to keep it interesting.
Whether you’re a seafood lover or just in the mood for a memorable dining experience, Shucked is absolutely...
