(4.5 stars) We ended up at Don Julio after an Easter zoo visit because it was open and supposedly offered elote. Housed in a strip mall, it doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside is another story. There's some well-appointed wall art, a surprising amount of space, and a comfortably casual vibe. Don Julio's menu helps it stand apart from the multitude of Mexican eateries in the area. It includes not only elote but several items not widely available elsewhere such as potato shrimp enchiladas and mango ribs. Of course, you can find the usual suspects (burritos, tacos, quesadillas, etc.) here as well. From vegetarian options to seafood dishes to a molcajete (sizzling meat bowl), Don Julio has something for everyone. My wife and I split an elote starter and went with a vegetable quesadilla and a seafood stuffed poblano, respectively. The food came out astonishingly fast, and it looked and smelled great. While the poblano dish featured a sauce that was milder than expected, the pepper itself delivered a bit of heat, and the shrimp were large and well-cooked. The quesadilla paired well with a smoky chipotle sauce, and the elote satisfied a craving. The chips and salsa may have been fairly pedestrian, but everything else was quite good. In addition to the aforementioned speedy service, Don Elote boasts surprisingly reasonable prices. The lunch specials are a steal, but even seafood entrees won't run higher than mid-teens. Don Julio's location makes it easy to overlook, but its food, value, and service are too good to pass up. It's a great option for a post-zoo lunch.

First time here but definitely not the last! The dining room was clean and inviting, the restroom was well kept also. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, Stephanie was our server today and she was very prompt and professional. We chose the presidente margaritas and later my wife got a glass of their house made sangria. Both drinks were good but I could tell that the sangria was freshly made! For food I chose the chiliques mix steak and chicken with an order of napalas. It was absolutely delicious and enough for two, my wife ordered the lunch special #4 chicken and spinach quesadilla, spinach enchilada and rice. Everything was outstanding, highly recommend stopping by. I finished the meal off with a pour of Weller 12, which also was delicious.

One of the best little known restaurants in Asheboro. I would've taken a picture of the meal, but by the time I realized it, it was gone. The place wasn't packed when we went (my first time), but it was busy. The staff service was incredible, I never got to a quarter cup, nor did I get a chance to make loud slurping sounds. Refills were prompt, it was as if they were waiting for me...honestly, if my cup runs out when I'm eating out, your tip is about to go down the drain too. I couldn't believe how great the food and service were! The dessert was deep fried ice cream, I think the batter was churro. Anyways, it was delicious!

December 02, 2022 8:36 PM server Michelle One of the most unpleasant servers I have ever had at ANY esablishment. This review has nothing to do with the quality of the food which is top notch. I have noticed the last 4-5 times my girlfriend and I have eaten here that the servers are extremely hasty in taking your plates and shoving you out of the door. December 02 the Michelle server was extremely rude and as my girlfriend was still eating Michelle asked her if she could take her plate. We were like it's not that busy why is she trying to push us out of the door. There has NEVER been one time at this esablishment that my food wasn't perfect. The best food eveytime. But, when you feel like you are not welcome it ruins the experience that is supposed to be relaxing. Michelle, sorry we inconveinenced you. When we we seated my girlfiriend and I asked for the check be split half. When we were given the check it wasn't split in half. We asked Michelle to split the ticket. She was painfully and obviously angry that we inconveinenced her for asking for something that we made clear BEFORE we placed our order. But, Michelle was focused on anything and everything except for what she was there to do. I do not enjoy writing reviews like this. But, if no one says anything it will continue. Aparently some people think they are above what they are paid to do. Michelle you threw our checks on our table and walked away angry. Why? You need a serious heart check if you think treating people with complete disrespect is going to earn you the respect you think you deserve. You, me, and every human on God's earth is not entitled to anything. Michelle, God loves you and He desires to have a one on one relationship with you. Open your heart to Him and He will show you what you are looking for. Seek Him FIRST and all the things you (need) will be given to you. Jesus is (my) our perfect example of what a servant should be. I lovingly and whole heaertedly encourage you and anyone to take the "18 inch journey". The distance from your brain to your heart. Google "A Place For The Heart". I too need to take this journey. I wish I had of taken this journey many years earlier. A negative review doesn't have to end bad if something good can come from it. I would never want anyone to loose their job because they were having a bad day. If you didn't read anything else.

Michelle, Jesus loves...

Very disappointed. We went last night for dinner at 4:30. Got seated right away. Hostess was nice. But we sat for over 20 minutes and still no one came to the table. I told the hostess and the table behind me had the same complaint. Finally a girl asks us what drinks we wanted and comes to the table 10 minutes later with the wrong drinks. Just as we decided to leave another girl comes with the correct drinks and apologizes for the wait. We order and I ask for no rice no beans with my meal. The waitress asks if I want to sub out something for the rice and beans and I reply “I would love a small side of Guacamole. “She says fine and off she goes. She brings me my guacamole and I sit and enjoy it while waiting for our meals. When this guy all tattooed comes out pretty intimidating and rudely says don’t expect a small guacamole next time you come in!!!! I thought how unnecessary and rude of him . I mentioned it to the server and she said he was the manager. Well for one ,that was unnecessary and very unprofessional. And 2nd ,what is the big deal ?? They use 3 avocados in their reg size order so why not make a small and use 1 avocado?!?! Lastly ,No worries because I will never return. Bad for them we eat out at least 4 times a week …no exaggeration. And I am a business owner in town, I own a B&B so guess what ? Yep I won’t be sending any of my guests there either.Do yourselves a favor and go to Taco Loco or...
