Ok. Now to be honest we come here weekly. I spend around $190 to $230 a trip. Nick or Geraldo is usually our bartender. I always get a steak and my wife's favorite meal and restaurant is this place. My wife gets shrimp scampi every week and it is always awesome. Potato skins and shrimp cocktail for appetizer is the bomb. But tonight was so bad we will not return and even made my wife get teary eyed talking to the manager about the experience. I ordered the new York strip and lobster tail with bake potato just butter. I told the waitress I wanted lobster cooked well because I hate raw lobster. My plate came out and lobster was barely done. My steak was well done but I noticed it was not same steak as usual. I know well done is tougher and that's how I like it for 36 years. This steak was like eating a beef jerky packet from slim Jim!!! Plastic tasting. Sent lobster back to cook longer. 2 minutes later no joke brought it back out with butter over it and looked the same, clear and raw. Said no way. So they said they would cook another one. 45 minutes later I get lobster and it's barely done!!!!! My steak at this point is cold as heck so wouldn't go good together at this point. Always thought grey haired manger was a nice lady and always have her compliments changed our minds tonight. She act like she didn't give 2 shi**. I was shocked and wife couldn't believe she acted uncaring and even got teary eyed. $1100 a month on this place.... Just lost that. 40 day aged steak?? False. A 28 day aged steak well done will almost fall apart, this steak was a plastic or hard rubber. Hate to not go here again. Sad. I also know that manger will post that they only guarantee juicy steak at rare or medium raw but as I stated!!!! I come here weekly, get well done steaks and are great. This steak was a piece of work, not aged at all. Show me proof certificate that it was aged. Look at previous reviews and see how steaks are so tough not aged. And all they offer at most is a desert! Just wanted to say this before their generic response that seems a Little rude to me also to...
Read moreWe came in to an overcrowded entryway (albeit on New Year's Eve) to an expansive dining area, with limited seating. We had to fight our way, just to confirm our reservation and be seated, which the hostesses promptly did (one star). While our waters were brought to us in a rush (only two of the three people got water, initially), we waited a while to get our order taken, while our drink order was completely ignored. Our food got to us, and I was more than surprised with it. Everything looked great. I had gotten the ribeye with sautéed spinach, and a loaded baked potato. The baked potato was cooked until the outside was crisp (I like to eat the skin, and was unable to, but I can see as how this could be advantageous to those who don't), the spinach looked great and had a very acidic taste, due to the lemon it was cooked with. The steak was a medium-rare (I order rare), but a true rare isn't very common to see at a "steakhouse" in a small town. I am one who loves acidic tastes. I really do. Up to this point, I thought that more was better. This was so thoroughly drenched in lemon juice that it flooded my plate, and completely overpowered the steak. I tried to like it. I ate nearly two thirds of it, but I physically couldn't bring myself to finish it. The entire steak tasted like nothing but pure citric acid. What was initially a promising steak turned into the pivoting point that brought the meal into a lemony chasm. I hailed the waiter and spoke to the manager about it, and it was moderately taken I to consideration, but the bill had the meal off, so I had to give another star for doing the right thing when a meal was so subpar that I couldn't even finish it. This is a new place, so I hope that they take these things into consideration, because it could make or break this place. I end this by saying that I didn't even know the server's name, u til the bill came, he briefly stopped once to see if everything was okay (approximately 2 minutes after being served), and my water glass was perpetually empty. I may try this again when I can have the...
Read moreWe find a reason to come to Asheboro/Greensboro at least once a year to eat at this place, we actually looked forward to it. It is 3 hours from our home. Unsure what happened yesterday but I will not be back. We ordered ribeyes & they were SO burnt you couldn't chew it. The fat on the steak was like shoe leather. The lobster tail was so chewy that you couldn't eat it. We all got boxes to bring home to the pups since we couldn't eat it. As my Dad was boxing his food he said he had to tell someone & the response was why I will not come back. The waitress was the sweetest but she went & got the manager who advised immediately its due to it being dry aged. We eat dry aged beef frequently & I can promise you, that was not the issue. It was like bubble gum. Asked if we wanted another one, or a dessert- we didnt want anything. We literally were just going to leave. She asked to take the plate to the kitchen. I went to the bathroom while she was back there & you could hear laughing, making excuses, so forth. When I come out the bathroom, she was telling the waitress that she was only giving us $10 dollars off & running her lip, aggravated. Which was a complete insult. I'm not really sure what happened, if they don't put their best staff on for lunch or what - but unfortunately the manager & chef need new attitudes. Really hate to see a place that GOOD go down that bad. I understand every one has bad days, but this was crazy. This is my last hope that the owner sees this & actually cares because I highly doubt it got past that "manager".
*hence the "owners" response & see reviews in the past 3 months as to why this place is going down so quickly. hate to see it but, it is what it is. Note, that I stated we just wanted to let them know - we didn't want ANYTHING. The way we were treated afterward is the real issue. The quality of the food sucked as well...
