An eclectic environment with an eclectic view
I often tell myself I'm not a coffee man but as many cafe's as I've been to, I'd be a liar.
Nannie Mae's adds a slight twist compared to places in the downtown Asheboro area with it's in house bakery making delicious snacks and desserts almost all the time.
On this day that I went, mentally I was completely exhausted. It's been a long month and still have another long one to go. After finally getting changed and leaving the house I had decided to walk in downtown sunset avenue for some fresh air.
Unfortunately at this time (2-3pm) the places I normally frequent are closed and honestly I hadn't had Nannie Mae's by my lonesome so what better day other than today to relax.
Upon walking in you're greeted with a very open floorplan and immediately to your right your eyes are drawn to the collection of sweets that are behind PSA grade 10 glass and you have to decide which collectibles to consume.
Luckily unlike normal PSA grades, you don't have to empty your wallet for the goodies behind the glass. On this day I went for the mushroom and sausage (mini quiche/pie) and a simple salted caramel iced coffee.
Another fascinating thing about this place is the seating. I'm one who loves to sit and watch life go by so being able to sit in the window display and watch ongoers go about their day while listening to Joji was an absolute plus.
The taste of the food was spiritually healing and the coffee reached within the confines of my soul and threw some sweetness on the troubles that I had going on all while the staff would intermittently check to make sure my experience was as wonderful as possible.
Thank you sincerely Nannie Mae's for catering to what I needed on this mentally deficit day. And to your staff for being the absolute best...
Read moreOh what an amazing place. We waited for a long time at 'The Table' and then found this as a substitute and thank god we did. Here is the summary of my experience here:
Ambiance 5/5: Cheerful contemporary inviting vibe. The seating is limited but I believe this is mostly a to-go coffee place. There is a couch and about 4-5 2-seater tables
Service 5/5 - The service was delightful. I had few questions about the bagels being vegan and they patiently heard and found out about it. Good news - Most of the bagels are vegan :). The girl in the front taking orders was very patient and helpful
Food 6/5: I am neither a fan of bagels not do I like coffee but I got them both. Here is the review:
a) Iced Vanilla Latte - I did not want to have it but when I took a sip from my wife's cup, I was forced to get myself one too coz it was really good.
b) Blueberry Bagel with cream cheese - This was another hit. Great bagel and cream-cheese. FYI - I am not a bagel connoisseur so I might be wrong but I loved the taste.

Not so Good:
So let me start this review by saying I never had intentions of ever making a review over a brownie. I'm getting married in April of next year and we were scouting out some different places for yummy treats, well we walked in and instantly could smell the sweetness in the air from all of the amazing pastry items. My fiance wanted the brownie and they asked what she preferred, either a corner or a center piece and warmed it up for her. While waiting on my fiancé's brownie to warm I inquired about ordering alot of them potentially for our wedding and the different prices. When we she took that first bite you could tell she was absolutely floored by how good it was. I asked how good is it scale of 1-10 and she instantly said 12 lol. Unfortunately my days of enjoying such treats are all but gone due to a gastric bypass a couple of years ago but she insisted that I try a nibble and when I tell you I would have happily lived as a fat man every day of my life just knowing I could eat these brownies ,that it is not a lie. Hands down the best brownie I've ever tried in my life and we will 100% be getting these for...
