UPDATE: My husband is very particular about his black and white cookies and has pronounced this bakery's the BEST black and white cookies he has EVER had in his life! A friend sent us the Facebook link to Crust Never Sleeps to ask if we had been there yet; we were practically drooling over their Facebook photos, and looked forward to meeting the bakers behind the friendly posts. That weekend, we met Jonathan and Dawn...two of the most genuine, kind people you'd ever want to meet. One bite of their "morning bun"-- and we were hooked. We ordered black and white cookies to pick up the next day, and bought several other goodies as we arrived early enough to have a good selection. (Their pastries, cookies and breads sell out fast! ) Knowing that Dawn and Jonathan two start baking in the wee hours yet still offer smiles and outstanding customer service makes Crust a total package. By the way, just a few hundred feet closer to Brevard Rd we noticed a trailer selling fresh coffee-- might be the perfect spot to sit and sip and dog into your baked goods. Thank you Dawn and Jonathan!

We just made our first trip to Crust Never Sleeps bakery on Sardis Road (near the Outlet Mall and the Arboretum) … and I guarantee you it won’t be our last! Owners Jonathan and Dawn are incredibly nice folks and wow, can they bake! I got a Pretty Big Jalapeño and Cheddar Pretzel and a Blueberry and Cream Cheese Croissant. I sampled both when we got home an they are outstanding. Lisa got a Pretty Big Everything Pretzel and we got a loaf of Turmeric Black Pepper Sourdough Bread for later on … oh, and we got a Molasses Cookie to eat on the ride home. One tip … pay close attention when you turn off of Brevard Road onto Sardis Road. We drove past the bakery twice before we saw their sign. It’s on the left about 100 yards from the intersection on the ground floor of a two-story building and directly across the street from Precision International Car Care Center and SmartStop Self-Storage. They’re open Thursday through Sunday. I recommend you get there early while there’s still a lot to choose from.

Holy cow this place is incredible! Well worth the 45 minute drive for me!! I got a variety of baked goods and they were all delicious. Cheddar scone: perfect balance of crumb and moisture. Crispy bits of cheese on the edges and just the right amount of salt. 10/10 Nog log: their seasonal version of coffee cake was yuummmmm! Ate it with a cup of black coffee and it was just what I was hoping for. Not overly sweet, not too crumbly. 10/10 Chocolate croissant: layers on layers on layers filled with a generous amount of chocolate. Just what you’re hoping for when ordering one of these bad boys. 10/10 Peppermint chocolate pie: This sample was given to me by the baker in lieu of their upcoming holiday preorders. WOW. I couldn’t get enough! This pie tastes like that first thin mint of Girl Scout cookie season. The one you’ve been looking forward to all year and tastes just as good as you remember, if not better. That’s EXACTLY what this pie tastes like and I cannot wait to order one this Christmas. 10/10
