I don’t believe I’ve ever reviewed a chain restaurant before, but we live down the street from MOD, and we have teenagers, so we have eaten there dozens of times. Most recently, we ordered pizzas a couple of days ago.

Detailed review included ordering tips

The good: The concept is excellent. Delivering hot, quality, custom-topped pizzas very quickly in an ultra-hot oven is a great concept.

They are indeed wonderful community partners. I have seen many nonprofits and schools have fundraisers there. That’s excellent!

The list of ingredients is really interesting. From kale and broccoli to Mike’s hot honey, I appreciate all of the different ingredients.

The price can’t be beat. It really is an excellent deal for what you get, especially because you can have any amount of toppings for the same low price.

The bad: Their cauliflower crust is sometimes gummy and sometimes too crisp. As someone who has gluten sensitivity, I find this to be a bit disappointing. And sometimes the crust is overcooked, and sometimes it’s undercooked. I find the same applies with their other gluten- friendly crust offering. I think perhaps the staff just needs a bit more training on how to properly cook the cauliflower and gluten-friendly crusts.

The pizzas seem pretty inconsistent. Sometimes they are piled high with the requested ingredients, and sometimes there are less generous toppings . Overall, the taste is the same, but it’s nice to have generous toppings.

There have also been a few mistakes on our orders (some toppings were left off, or there were incorrect crusts, or a glaze was added on the wrong pizza) and we’re not quite sure how to rectify that. By the time we return home with the pizzas and discover the error, and call MOD, they say they will “make us a new one”, which is great, but we’re all sitting down to eat, and we really don’t have time for that. It would be nice if we received a coupon for a free pizza for a future order, but that is never offered. Even after we explain that we all just sat down and we don’t have the time to drive back there, (because everyone is eating dinner together as a family and getting ready to watch a movie or go out etc)., we are still only offered the option of having them remake the pizza. This has happened a few times, and, in a few instances, there were toppings or crusts on a pizza that one person could not really eat, so that family member ended up making a sandwich. The pizza did not go to waste! Somebody else ate it, but it was not the pizza that was ordered. So my suggestion would be to offer a coupon for a free pizza when the guest calls to report an incorrect pizza.

Tips on ordering: Mike’s hot honey drizzle is fabulous! I have some Mikes here, and I drizzle it on everything. Try it on your pizza! Also, all of the drizzles and dollops are a great touch. Don’t neglect them. And feel free to add several toppings and cheese to your pizza. The flavors meld beautifully together. Broccoli and cauliflower and tomatoes and ham? Sure! Gorgonzola and feta...

OK here we go. I am not usually over critical about my food as long as I get my money's worth and the quality is good for the price, so I went to MOD Pizza for the first time. Actually ordered online, same difference. Anyhow....my gf and I ordered a build your own 11" with the regular crust and several toppings, garlic cheese bread and two small salads with cinnamon bread and chocolate sauce. First the salads.....they were awesome. Fresh made fresh ingredients the dressings were tasty. Perfect!!!! Next the cheese bread, great cheese what killed it was the bread sadly under cooked. I have had better at pizza hut (gack!!!). Sorry but a fail on the bread. Ok the main course the pizza which smelled amazing toppings were fresh and very good.....the crust again, way under cooked actually it was still white it like the bread didn't even brown. Sad because the rest of the pizza was great. You can see the pattern here for the cinnamon bread same as the rest under cooked did you have a rookie cooking at the time. Oh well if I was dining in I would have sent it back but it was carryout and I am not wasting my time or gas to drive back. I will go back again but I have to say I spent money on food I could have gotten at a larger chain that would be more consistent. Your staff on the other hand was awesome they were friendly and since it was my first time there showed me where to pickup my order. Service was quick....

(EDITTED 7/15/25)Always a treat gotta love fast, fresh, and friendly service...plus a delicious freaking pizza!! Both online ordering and in store it's always perfect...it's like they're mind readers! (Edit 7/17/25) I seriously hate this place and the work ethic of most of their employees. Down hill doesn't begin to describe it. Yal are over here playing games with peoples good like it's funny to hide an entire jar of garlic on someone's pizza. I've eaten at mod pizzas all over the country and never have I seen anything so childish done by one of your employees making pizza. It's too obvious your employees hate their lives working here, but now that disdain is spilling over onto the customers. I mean literally an ENTIRE jar of minced garlic on an 11 inch pizza (totally. Almost jokingly hidden under pepperoni and splotches of sauce there were huuuuuge piles of garlic. It literally covered the entire face of the pizza. People are broke yal shouldn't be playing with their food. Then doordash wouldn't even let me get a refund even though it was a pick up and I reported it with pictures after my first bite. Yal are seriously lucky I hadn't order that directly from you guys or I'd have had some choice words with yal in store. Some of yal are toooooo grown to be playing games, sir. Get your staff...

PROS • Allergy-friendly crust • No upcharge for an impressive variety of toppings CONS • We arrived 2 minutes after the “promise time” to find one door locked without signage or personnel to direct us to the other door. We then noticed someone on their computer inside and moved to the other door. We then entered, unacknowledged by the person on the computer or the “attendant” behind the counter on her phone (who disappeared into the kitchen shortly thereafter). We eventually found our pizza at the pickup area and left to a “have a good evening” from the person on her computer (who previously disregarded us, so as out-of-towners we weren’t positive whether she was on-duty staff, off-duty staff, or a patron). • When we got home just ten minutes later, the pizza was cold, so we had to warm it in our oven. BOTTOM LINE • Despite the pickup snafu and having to re-bake our pizza, both generally minor nuisances, the core product was a great value with strong quality. It’s difficult to find an allergy-friendly crust, especially one that can handle many toppings without flopping over constantly, so I would retry MOD Pizza over similar options in the future.

I visited Mod with my family this week during a short trip to Asheville. We’ve already talked about doing this again because of what a great experience we had! The service was friendly and efficient, and the associates graciously explained the process since we were new to Mod. I was impressed that the pricing was based simply on the size of the pizza or salad, and toppings are essentially unlimited; plus, the prices were very reasonable. The variety truly offered something for every taste, and the food was prepared exactly as we ordered it—and was delicious. It was also nice to be able to enjoy a meal with my kids (who aren’t exactly quiet) and not feel judged or out of place when they acted like kids. Bonus points for the laid back, family friendly atmosphere. Definitely check this place out, and try the No Name Cake for dessert!
