If you want absolutely fresh Mediterranean food, this is your place! We saw a recent Facebook post about this place opening and decided to give it a try. It was nice to be able to walk in at 7pm and be seated immediately. They weren't busy at all, which was nice for us. I'm assuming that won't be the case much longer once word spreads. Missy was our waitress and was awesome. She was up front about being very new to this place and getting answers if she didn't have them. I was there with my wife and mother-in-law, so we decided to order several items and share. Unfortunately, I was so hungry I forgot to take photos of the calamari zaatar and horiatiki salad before we demolished them. Both were amazing! I enjoyed the beet capriccio myself since the other two don't care for goat cheese. It could have used a little salt, but that's just my tastebuds. It was so fresh! We all shared the fennel sausage flatbread and the scallop risotto. Both were very tasty and well put together. I wish I had more room in my stomach because I didn't want to stop eating. We don't normally do dessert, but we decided to try the cheesecake and also the house made pistachio ice cream with honeycomb. Both were so delicious, but I would go back for that pistachio ice cream alone. It was that good! The only disappointment was that they don't have the final approval for their liquor license, and we weren't aware that we could bring in our own bottle of wine without a corking fee. I'm assuming that fee will go into effect once they have their liquor license. So bring a nice bottle of wine to enjoy in the meantime!! We...
Read moreI had booked this reservation after looking at their menu online, hoping to get my husband some bouillabaisse for his birthday. I also saw some dishes that I could order once we got there. I had made the reservation online. We found out that that didn’t go through, but there was no problem getting a table. We got to the restaurant and the menu I had looked at online was an old menu. They no longer offer bouillabaisse nor the meal I was hoping to get. Their food was good, but the prices are high for the area. We ordered a dessert of a dark chocolate cake that was extremely dry. We probably won’t go back again.
I would like to revise my earlier post and give an overall rating of 4 stars. When we arrived I spoke to a female staff person explaining my disappointment with the menu changes and she asked where I saw it and I told her on the website. I also told Brianna the morning of our dinner I had placed a reservation online and I wanted to verify it. She didn’t find it and both she and the woman in the evening told me they were going to speak to the owner regarding both my concerns but there wasn’t any follow through. I suppose by the time we received our dessert I was just tired of complaining. That’s not what I normally do. This was an extremely important birthday for my husband , for personal reasons not necessary to go into, and he had been wanting bouillabaisse for quite sometime. He would have ordered the cioppino if it would have had scallops, since it didn’t he opted for the scallop risotto. Our meals were good, just not what we...
Read moreSo this is the 4th time we have dined at Akres. We first went in right after they opened and it was decent but the service was chaotic which was understandable because it was new. So we tried again and it was okay but again the service was terrible and that was in July and then again at the end of July, same thing. We have been in and around the restaurant business for years and years and we can’t figure out why the service isn’t better. The food is decent but nothing to write home about. We were there tonight for our anniversary and again there were only 6 tables when we arrived and again chaotic service. We expect for the prices that the service would be exceptional. When we were ready to leave, the bill sat on our table for 15 minutes as we waited and waited for someone to pick it up, but no. We ended up taking it to the bar and again waited as 3 people walked past us before someone finally took it and checked us out. We were really hoping to have another great restaurant to go to, but we won’t be back. We will stick with Daphnes and Fede. Both exceptional with food and service! And you need a bartender, my Selene had no gin in it and for $14 for a drink, it should have the alcohol in it. By the way, if you are going to serve potatoes, cook them the same day as the ones we had were cooked at least the day before as potatoes have an after taste when cooked...
