We visit Astoria once a year. Itâs our very favorite spot on the most northern end of the Oregon Coast. The big ship channel from the port into the river is something everyone visiting Oregon or Washington should see. And if you like coffee, Sleepers is the place to go.
Our family of grown children love coffee. Actually, we live on coffee. We are without a doubt, coffee snobs. So when we discovered Sleepers at their former downtown location a year ago, we were thrilled. And to make it even better, theyâve moved to a location along the River pier. You can cosy up in their inviting sipping room and birdwatch and boat-watch to your heartâs content.
The staff is very helpful and sweet. On this last visit a couple of weeks ago, we ordered coffee on two different days, and the baristas on duty each time were excellent.
From our group of four, we each ordered something different. Everyone was happy as clams with their order. My oatmilk latte even had a gorgeous foamy rosette on the topâsomething difficult to accomplish with plant milk if youâve ever tried. The drinks were piping hot, the coffee strong, and the ambience delightful.
I use a wheelchair when I travel and this place is very accessible. There is an ADA parking spot and a ramp to the small plaza Sleepers is located in. Once inside, the halls are wide, and both restrooms are accessible. There was also plenty of room for my wheelchair in the sitting room.
We are all looking forward to returning next year and visiting our favorite coffee...
Read moreOh, you wouldnât believe the magic I stumbled upon at this coffee shop, my friends! Picture this: I waltz in, eyes wide open, seeking caffeinated wonders. And boy, did I find them!
Now, let me tell you about these cortados. Theyâre like a cosmic dance of espresso and velvety milk, swirling together in perfect harmony. Itâs a caffeine symphony in a cup, and it hits you like a bolt of pure energy. I was practically doing cartwheels after my first sip! Theyâve got that creamy texture that hugs your taste buds just right, leaving you wanting more.
And those fig barsâŚoh, mama mia! I took a bite, and suddenly I was transported to a fig-filled wonderland. The delicate sweetness of the figs, paired with the satisfying crumble of the crust, was a taste explosion that rocked my world. I couldnât resist having seconds, thirds, and maybe even fourths. Itâs figgy perfection, my friends!
Now, letâs talk about the coffee shop itself. Itâs like a sanctuary for caffeine enthusiasts. The atmosphere buzzes with creativity, and the aroma of freshly brewed espresso fills the air. The baristas, let me tell you, theyâre like wizards behind that counter. They handle those espresso machines with finesse, crafting liquid art that awakens the senses. Itâs a spectacle you wonât want to miss.
So, my friends, if youâre searching for a coffee shop that will blow your mind with cortados that make you want to high-five a stranger and fig bars that transport you to figgy nirvana, this is the...
Read moreHey friends! This review is about sustainability only đ
By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of the plastics we ârecycleâ actually just go to the landfill, incinerator, and ocean.
Iâd love to see how your lovely waterfront business can better promote the real mugs and plateware it has, in order to prevent the normalization of folks staying to enjoy their drinks while making needless plastic trash in the process.
Clearly lots of folks throwing away their cup after one use (see: trashcan).
I wonder if yâall could more explicitly ask customers if theyâre staying? Could you promote reuse on social? Could you help folks draw the connection between their consumption and the very waterfront views they came to enjoy?
Thanks for considering! And thanks for the...
