As a local resident, I have been going into Blaylocks since they opened anytime I get the chance. Amazing drinks, great atmosphere, and the guys that normally work there are super cool and so friendly. Unfortunately last night my husband and I had a very bad experience. My husband did not have a mask with him in order to be seated. When asked he told the waitress he didn’t have one with him. She responded in a very rude tone “well we don’t carry those here for people. You can’t be in here. You need to get out.”(while pointing to the door) She also told him to “read the sign on his way out”. Even patrons sitting at a nearby table responded with a shocked “wow” at this employees behavior. I have not experienced treatment like this, or seen anyone else being treated like this, anywhere else throughout this whole thing. Not even close. Very disappointed and surprised that it came from Blaylocks.
The response below is entirely false. A blatant lie. A mask was never offered. The exact words when my husband replied that he didn’t have one was “we don’t supply those. It is a state requirement and you need to leave.” He said that his wife was using the restroom. She said “Leave. Get out. And read the sign on your way”. At which point my husband turned around and politely left: he is absolutely not a confrontational person. If a mask had been offered in order to take a seat he would have taken it. Him firmly declining a mask that was supposedly offered never happened. This is an outright lie. I do not know why anyone would commend your employee for behaving so rudely towards a customer. I find this hard to believe as the only customer within earshot seemed to be just as shocked at your employees extremely rude behavior. There is no holiday stress here, but maybe your employee was feeling it and that explains her snapping. In any case, good...
Read moreWell, I would like to give a better rating, but I have tried on 3 separate occasions to experience this establishment, but apparently they just open whenever they feel like it. The first time I looked up their hours online and drove 45 min only to find they were closed. I have tried 2 subsequent times with the same result… I am done driving to downtown Astoria to try this bar….
Update - I cannot reply, so I will edit my review to respond to the comments of the business owner I presume - My last two attempts to be a patron of your establishment resulted in failure… Online and on your door it said you are open until 10:00pm, but I assure you, you were not open. Last week on Wednesday around 8pm and tonight July 16th at 7:45pm you were closed.
-Second Update, after last nights response from owner/management, I wanted to try again, unfortunately I had the same exact result. It was 7:55pm and as you can see in the picture it says open until 10pm…. Very frustrating!! I could have forgiven if they would have said they were short staffed or had a reason of any sort, but instead they acted as though they are always open their posted hours. They gaslighted me by feigning ignorance to not being open! I will not try again and this is not how you run a business!! Sad because I was truly excited to try...
