As a local resident, I have been going into Blaylocks since they opened anytime I get the chance. Amazing drinks, great atmosphere, and the guys that normally work there are super cool and so friendly. Unfortunately last night my husband and I had a very bad experience. My husband did not have a mask with him in order to be seated. When asked he told the waitress he didn’t have one with him. She responded in a very rude tone “well we don’t carry those here for people. You can’t be in here. You need to get out.”(while pointing to the door) She also told him to “read the sign on his way out”. Even patrons sitting at a nearby table responded with a shocked “wow” at this employees behavior. I have not experienced treatment like this, or seen anyone else being treated like this, anywhere else throughout this whole thing. Not even close. Very disappointed and surprised that it came from Blaylocks.

The response below is entirely false. A blatant lie. A mask was never offered. The exact words when my husband replied that he didn’t have one was “we don’t supply those. It is a state requirement and you need to leave.” He said that his wife was using the restroom. She said “Leave. Get out. And read the sign on your way”. At which point my husband turned around and politely left: he is absolutely not a confrontational person. If a mask had been offered in order to take a seat he would have taken it. Him firmly declining a mask that was supposedly offered never happened. This is an outright lie. I do not know why anyone would commend your employee for behaving so rudely towards a customer. I find this hard to believe as the only customer within earshot seemed to be just as shocked at your employees extremely rude behavior. There is no holiday stress here, but maybe your employee was feeling it and that explains her snapping. In any case, good...

Well, I would like to give a better rating, but I have tried on 3 separate occasions to experience this establishment, but apparently they just open whenever they feel like it. The first time I looked up their hours online and drove 45 min only to find they were closed. I have tried 2 subsequent times with the same result… I am done driving to downtown Astoria to try this bar….

Update - I cannot reply, so I will edit my review to respond to the comments of the business owner I presume - My last two attempts to be a patron of your establishment resulted in failure… Online and on your door it said you are open until 10:00pm, but I assure you, you were not open. Last week on Wednesday around 8pm and tonight July 16th at 7:45pm you were closed.

-Second Update, after last nights response from owner/management, I wanted to try again, unfortunately I had the same exact result. It was 7:55pm and as you can see in the picture it says open until 10pm…. Very frustrating!! I could have forgiven if they would have said they were short staffed or had a reason of any sort, but instead they acted as though they are always open their posted hours. They gaslighted me by feigning ignorance to not being open! I will not try again and this is not how you run a business!! Sad because I was truly excited to try...

I went to this bar and it was to hang out with some friends I would not get the opportunity to see in awhile and it was highly acclaimed from them when I arrived it was a beautiful atmosphere the drinks were really tasty and an overall great selectionhowever upon receiving the bill I found out that the bartender took advantage of my lack of knowledge towards certain brands of whiskey and decided to upcharge me from the original price of $14 to $25 for the same brand but different type of whiskey now I specifically said that I only wanted one thing from the menu in about I was choosing between two $14 drinks and he decided to charge me $25 Corey is not to be a trusted bartender because he owns part of the bar in will up charge you without any concern for tipping I am writing this not to vent but to warn whoever walks into that bar to make sure you I know exactly what he's being ordered or they will...

We came in on a Sunday night, and the place was close to half full, with people seated outside as well, but only one bartender. That turned out to be a non-issue, as she (Michelle I believe is her name) was shockingly fast. There was no quality sacrifice from the speed required to keep up with the orders, so hats off to Michelle and all her hard work! Many creative cocktails, and loads of Japanese whiskies, which you don't find at many of the other whiskey bars I've been to. No way to walk out of there having sampled everything I wanted to try (I wanted to function the next day), so we will need to come back! The place had a really nice vibe; that speakeasy feel that another reviewer mentioned. Seating is a bit limited, although there is outdoor seating. The busier times/days might make it hard to get the seating you want. I liked the size though. It seemed just right to me.

Went a second night in a row because we couldn't get enough! The menu is so amazing. With 90+ cocktails on the menu, one would think it was a quantity over quality situation, but no. All of the 6 drinks we ordered over two days were amazing. Step out of the box and order the Gardener, a ranch dressing inspired martini. The fun of this place in with their cocktails, but I'm sure the whiskey flights are fun too. The employee with the ponytail, wish I caught his name, was helpful and friendly. We planned a trip a month later to go back, just for this place. Go early to catch a seat. Order the Dirty Lassi, OMG! Cardamom and ginger combined makes Mango somehow, magically.
