Woe and sorrow afflicted us with most innerring redoubtabilty! 'Twas a most propitious Sunday morn' when we did deign to step into what we had until that moment considered a most auspicious edifice. Thirteen were we in number, and we did venture out with not one fewer, for who amongst us would wish to stay therein! But I desist from such pointless vociferations to achieve the meat of this message, which lay below in all its bodacity:
The accomodations were most indefagitable in nature, and our waitress -- poor woman, so afflicted with the cares and worries of this world! -- did greet us with most disarming affections. We seated ourselves in our thrones, and after some time had passed, we were given menues with which we could select our repast. But let not the reader think that we were provided with an adequate number of these most excellent tools, and certain among us were forced to resort to the use of that accursed technology henceforth referred to as the "personal cellular phone" so as to access that most august establishment's menu. When we had selected the choicest delicacies, we did place our orders with the utmost dignity and accuracy, and thence settled into wait, assured that it would not take overly long.
But -- and let not the reader think I exaggerate in the slightest -- hours, indeed, veritable days, if not weeks, passed before our food was laid before us! A certain tale comes to my memory, poor though it may be in its old age, that a walk of some length was taken by two companions of this group, in which most deep and inscrutable matters were discussed with sage wisdom and advice in most plentiful amounts; and yet, only when many lengthy dispensations of knowledge had been made, were the platters, heaped most depressingly low with food, brought out for the guests to gourge themselves upon!
Indeed, the meal concluded three quarters of one twenty-fourth of the diurnal length of time past the closing of the restaurant, such was the wait time! Let it not be blamed, of course, upon our poor waitress -- may we long cherish our memory of her most excellent example (and this I say in all seriousness, for she was much consternated over the state of affairs in which we found ourselves) -- but possibly upon the management, who was known to seat herself and attack a great feast of the choicest wines and finest delicacies whilst her guests starved practically to death in the adjacent chamber. Indeed, it was most wonderous to behold how we even fell to consuming the leather of our own footwear, and there was not some hungry eye cast toward fellow guests and their meals (not to mention the buffet, resplendent in all its glory), before we finally received that which we were owed. And, wonder to behold, naught but two dollars were removed from the price of certain items for our troubles -- we, who had long beseeched all Heaven above for relief and respite from our troubles upon bended knee and with heartfelt contrition and remorse for our numerous sins; who had promised to go on glorious crusades if but we were fed within the next century; who had given up land, country, and even kin so as to even be fed the smallest morsel; who would have emptied our coffers so as to purchase even the smallest item from their menu if we could but receive it in a most reasonable time -- ah, I cannot go on, for the very memory of it galls me! I shall contemplate the...
Read morePoor example of Italian food last night. Server must have been new as she was not familiar with the menu. She didn't ask if I wanted spaghetti or rigatoni with my Italian dinner. I volunteered my choice, then changed my mind to rigatoni which she noted on the ticket but still brought me spaghetti. . She made a big deal out of having to redo the ticket & I said just mark it out. She said she would have to redo it because 'I didn't know her cook.' My husband & I both ordered meals that included salads. She brought his Ceasar salad out a good 3-5 minutes before mine & made the comment that she 'had to make mine' herself. His lettuce was limp (old?) but there was a lot of it. Mine barely covered the plate. I asked for balsamic vinegar to add to the dipping sauce & she brought salad dressing. The Italian sauce covering our pasta looked to be very old or out of an expired jar. The color was a deep dark red & didn't not look fresh at all. The server never refilled my glass despite the fact I set it at the edge of the table visible to anyone who walked by. We were hopeful the lemon cake would be tasty but it too was a disappointment. We did not ask for a manager as the only friendly person we encountered was the young lady who brought us our drinks & also acted as cashier. My husband specifically told her we wanted her to have the tip as she was the only one deserving. I am embarrassed as I recommended this place & it was a bad experience. Their breakfast buffet was delicious the last time...
Read moreMy wife and I have visited here a couple times. The folks tell you to sit anywhere. We had a couple decent experiences and most recently, we had nothing but issues. 6/11 we came in and were treated as an afterthought/inconvenience. We gave the benefit of doubt and visited on 6/17. We were seated in the middle room. We had to get the attention of the waitress to get our drinks and food order. There were younger kids working and talking about various life drama really loudly. One of the kids splashed my wife with water and another spilled syrup on me which ruined my shirt. We are not ones to usually complain but our food was wrong and the fact no one apologized for spilling made us feel unimportant. We went to pay and the lady took off our drinks but no apology. My wife and I decided to give this place one more try on 6/27. We walked in and were told to have a seat anywhere. We sat in the third area over for 10 minutes. My wife had to get the attention of a waitress yet again. A young man came and got our drink order. A couple of older ladies came to sit next to us. Needless to say the waitress, that had to be reminded by my wife came and took the order of the two older ladies and still ignored us. We will just drive the few extra miles to Topeka. We live roughly 30 miles from here and have very little choice of places to eat. If you like being ignored, stuff thrown on you and food made incorrectly well then you will be...
