Had reservations for 2 nights, checked in and went to our room (116) and it smelt musky plus had a bad odor. The room had several things that needed repaired like room door, bathroom door not closing properly, and outlet next to bed not working. We thought it was only for 2 nights so we would just deal with it. Went to the store and bought a can of Lysol and came back and sprayed the room down real good. We went out for awhile and got back about 10:00 pm, got cleaned up and went to bed by 10:30. We were both woke up at about 12 midnight itching, we got up, turned on the lights and saw that we had bites on our bodies. We pulled down the covers and say several blood spots on the sheets that were not there before. Moved the pillows and saw a Bed Bug crawling at the head of the bed on top of the sheet. We both took a quick shower, packed our bags, and went to the front desk, told the lady what transpired, and requested a refund for both nights. She told us that she didn't have the authority to give refunds and got on the phone with the manager. The manager refused to give a refund and didn't offer any suggestions. We told the lady at the desk that we were going to report them to the Health Department and left. We went across the street and got a room at the Quality Inn and only paid a few dollars more. It was very clean, didn't have any odors, needed no repairs, and bed was very comfortable and had no Bed Bugs. DO NOT STAY AT THIS SUPER 8. IF I COULD HAVE RATED LOWER THAN A "1" I WOULD HAVE. GO ACROSS THE STREET AT QUALITY INN AND PAY A FEW DOLLARS MORE. IT WILL WELL WORTH THE MONEY. The manager at the Super 8 is more concerned about making a buck that taking care of the customers.
The owner replied that the Health Department came out and checked the room and property for bed bugs and notified your facility there was no issue bed bugs. That is a "LIE" because when we called the Health Department they stated they don't come out and check for bed bugs and gave us the Department that we needed to contact to report it. So as you said the Health Department came out and checked your facility including room (116), then post the document from the Health Department showing what you said was true. If you don't post the document from the Health Department then everyone will know you were lying also. Waiting for the Document from the Health Department...
Read moreI've been to various Super 8 in the past and I understand that it's not a fancy stay by any means, but it's supposed to be at least clean and provide the very basic essentials- THIS LOCATION DID NOT. I checked in about 9pm - traveled from out of town. The man at the desk seemed genuinely confused to see me- like he wasn't expecting to see anyone & seemed either sleep deprived, high, or maybe sick(?). He mumbled a lot (in a different language?) to himself throughout the check-in conversation and it was hard to tell what he was saying and if/when he was talking to me. By the end of my check-in I realized he had an earpiece in and must have been talking to someone else the entire time. Very rude and unprofessional- I can only imagine what must have been said since he must have assumed I wouldn’t understand. :/
The building and room were both very run down and dirty. The bathroom&shower hadn't been mopped and there was hair on the toliet. Also a dirty towel with something pink on it in the shower. There appeared to maybe be mold on toliet as well at push button. Stains on carpets and blankets, paint chipping, and cracks and chips in the wood for both doors. The shower wasn't maintained well and curtain wasn't long enough, so showering created a large puddle in the bathroom floor. Very dark in room. VERY SUS!
As a solo female traveling I did not feel safe or welcome and checked out after my first of 2 night stay. When checking out in the morning the woman at the desk didn't seem to know what to do and said she'd "left a note for the manager " with no indication of possible refund or partial-I didn't have the energy to argue and left. There was also barely any food provided at the free breakfast- so don't expect much, if anything. I also had almost no reception in my room and wifi barely gave any connection on my devices- if any throughout my stay. The only slight upside was that it was near major highways- the Quality Inn down the street was just as close, though, and I ended up going there for my 2nd night...
Read moreI am not sure why my original review keeps going away, but I will continue to post each time I notice my review has been removed. We had reservations to stay at this hotel for 2 nights. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was an odd smell, when we went into the room the smell was even more noticeable. On the first night of our stay, I was awakened with bug bites and a bloodstain that was not originally there. I raised the pillow up and there was a small bug there. We immediately got up showered and left the room. We went down to the front desk and they were of no assistance and would not refund our money. I did let the hotel know that I would be calling the health department. We went down the road and stayed at the Quality Inn (a very nice hotel, by the way, with no smells). We were visiting family, and even they said the hotel was bad and would have warned us against staying there had they known that is where we made reservations there. A few days later, after I returned home, I placed a call to the health dept to report this hotel, only to find out the health department does not inspect hotels, another department does. So, I was given that department’s number to call them instead. In the owner’s response, he stated that the health department had come out to inspect his hotel, but that is not true, because the health department does not inspect hotels there in Atchison. Just trying to give you all a fair review so you won’t waste your money or have bugs sleeping in the bed with you by going...
