Lopez De Mexico Restaurant — Restaurant in Atchison

I ordered the fish tacos to go with my complimentary chips and salsa. I stopped here on my way home to Wisconsin after a visit to Mexico on my motorcycle. The food served here rivaled and surpassed the food I had in Mexico. My waitress was very nice and attentive. She allowed me to plug in my lithium battery which I used to charge my phone during my trip. After leaving the restaurant I stayed at a hotel 30 minutes away. I then realized I had no forgot the plug portion of my lithium battery at the restaurant. I called the restaurant and spoke with the owner who informed me that she would be invited that area the following day and volunteered to drop the plug off at the hotels which she did. She was very nice and went out of her way to help me out. This is a restaurant that I will always stop at when I travel through that area. I have never ordered takeout from here. I was hoping on a Friday evening I would be able to order carryout but they have decided to take their phones off the hook. Maria's restaurant did the same which is why I started looking at Lopez. This is a ridiculous thing to do for a restaurant. It's not like Atchison has a lot and there is no restaurant in Lawrence or KC that would actually take their phone off the hook so they didn't have to take carryout orders. This is absolutely absurd and a business killer especially on a Friday night, and because of this I will never eat there in any capacity. This town is absurd when it comes to restaurants and Lopez is no different. If you can't figure out how to staff enough people to answer the phone, you need to shut your business down...just FYI. Must Experience! This is the place you've been hungry for! I found this little taste of Mexico while doing a GOOGLE search, and I am so glad I did. I am from Kansas City and am visiting little towns under 2 hours away to do little Day Trip Adventures for my vacation. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas, so so so delicious.Debi was my waiter, she was delightful. The decor was cool, even old photos of the Lopez Family, I liked that little history.
