Jiang's Golden Phoenix — Restaurant in Athens

I love that this place never seems over crowded when I go. If it ever does, they have a whole big room that hardly needs to be used. The workers are friendly and they let us choose our own booth and don't seem to mind at all. We usually stay a while when we go because we are visiting. There was once they made us feel they were rushing us away, but after then it hasn't been an issue. They know how we do and we don't eat like tons more because of us taking our time. They got to know us and what we like and they remember these things everytime we come. I actually will probably leave an even better too next time if I get the same waitress. She's very nice and she's the one we usually get. We've come there for years and it is very pleasant. The fresh part of the bar, it is hard to get the meat because it's frozen, but I'd rather that than for it to be ruined and kept at too hot a temperature, so that's not too bad a thing. The sushi is USUALLY good, but sometimes not so much. Last time I came nit so much. They have good stir fry that's has amazing broccoli unlike the other place I go sometimes. Some days the food isn't as good as others, but usually the food is really awesome and their prices are also good. If you do go once and not like their food, it definitely is worth going again on another day to give them a chance because they do have good food most days. I have used my credit card a few times and have never had an issue about it. (I read reviews that said they have) I have used a card for years and never had an issue. They do sometimes make your check a penny over or under. I can't figure the code out to this, but I think it is just a luck kind of thing and it's no big deal. It's under as well at times. Oh, and if you don't have time to sit and eat....you can always come and get it to go. They charge per pound then. They also have hand sanitizer and gloves and I have never seen them do any nasty stuff like at the other place I sometimes go. They are always clean about everything...

We have been going to the Golden Phoenix for about 4 years now since we lived in Athens my granddaughter is extremely tall for her age and every time I come in there I have to explain to them her that she's nine or eight or whatever age she was this year she's 10 we go in there we order our food and I already knew when we got the check today we're going to charge her as an adult even though we've been there probably 20 times and I knew I was going to have to explain this in front of my child and probably shame her a little bit which I did not want to do I just said to the lady she's 10 and the server walked up to the front I watched everything she told the one lady that was sitting at the register and the lady at the register started walking towards us and when she walked pasta she stopped turned around and stared at my granddaughter and then proceeded to walk away and spoke in Chinese so when the waitress came back I figured she had changed it or whatever on the bill but she didn't she said sorry we no longer have kids 12 and under it's now nine and under so needless to say I will never ever go back there again I felt that it was very rude and disrespectful to try and embarrass a child like that like I said we have been going there for 4 years every time we go we've had this issue pretty much I almost went home and got her birth certificate and brought it back but I was so mad that I just said we'll just never go back don't worry about it FYI she was born in...

Overall, for a chinese buffet, it was not the best.

Below the norm for what most of us are used to the food is the most important part even if the atmosphere isn't that inviting. I have a tendency to go for the lomaine noodles and something crispy with it. The only thing that was decent was the chicken wings at the time. And I really like my noodles on the fresh side.

I would have to say that this is the first time i've been to a chinese buffet and only had right one small plate of food.I did not want to go back for seconds, the crab rangoons were soggy at best.

I was asked for a refill on my iced.Tea, one time other than that, my server gave us a check and never even asked if she wasn't to separate our bill.

If you're going to go here for something quick, do a takeout, because their takeout is right. A 7 and 10 dollars for years. Different sizes, much less than sitting and eating.

Maybe i'm comparing my chinese buffet standard to a more national level, but for the area it may be mid grade.
