My wife had lunch here afternoon of 4/14/23 and brought me “smoked ribs with house bbq sauce”, cole slaw and fries. I’m a bbq baby pork rib lover, however I have NEVER had a more tough, overcooked, absolutely black, dry, tasteless rack of ribs…EVER. To look at them was disgusting. I’m absolutely shocked that an establishment and employees would have the shameless ability to foist these on a customer and charge $25 for them. I will never again step foot in a so called “restaurant” named Sweet Lou’s. I posted this and then after was able to speak with “Chapman”, a manager. I relayed the experience to him. He was very understanding and stated they had a new “first time” cook today, “but that doesn’t excuse what happened “. He was willing to reimburse for the charge with a gift card, although a kind gesture, doesn’t make up for an employee willing to put out food of this type. Hopefully it will be a “teachable moment”. I told him I had been there 3 times previously and the food was good, but this time it was on a level to not want a customer to return. It probably wouldn’t have been an issue if I was eating in, I could complain and get a replacement but it was “.To Go”, and I live 15 miles away.

I’ve been trying to like this place and gave it 3 good tries. I’ve been to the location in Sandpoint and they’re great, but this is half the distance so figured I’d keep trying. Probably won’t try again. The service is good, don’t get me wrong. Staff are somewhat attentive, the restaurant has a nice look, good selection on the menu, but I’ve tried the bison ribs three times and they get worse every single time. I’ve attached photos. You get 4 ribs for approximately $40. At $10/rib, this is pretty terrible pricing just to start, but whatever, if it’s good then I’m willing to treat myself once in a while. Well… One rib had absolutely no meat on it, the other had maybe two small bites worth. I mentioned this to the server and did get one of the ribs replaced. I figured I’d get two of them, as they were both practically bare to the bone, but didn’t want to risk getting my food spat on so I didn’t say anything else. Maybe that’s on me. Didn’t get any comps or anything. I want to laugh that the chef put this on the plate thinking it was acceptable.

We LOVE Sweet Lou’s in Sandpoint and CDA, so figured we would stop by Athol’s location . My husband and I entered expecting a friendly greeting but were just met with eye rolls and the hostess asking another waitress if she could park us as table x. I shrugged it off. We both ordered the Cuban sandwiches. My fries were delicious but sandwich not so much so I only ate a bite. Waitress never came back to check on us, only tossed me a to go box with the check. I asked her if she noticed anything wrong with the soda machine as my pop was flatter than Kansas. She said “no” and when she saw my drink just muttered how she would have to look into that. However that was when she dropped the check off. Not impressed by this location but it won’t stop us from frequenting the other locations.

We were really looking forward to eating at Sweet Lou's, but I hate to say, we won't be back. We ordered several things to go so we could get a feel of the overall menu. It was such a disappointing meal. There were minor issues with a near rotten carrot in my kid's meal and a complete lack of salt or other seasoning in the chicken fried steak gravy as well as several foods getting smashed because of poor stacking in the to go bags. These problems were minor and we would have given the restaurant another shot later on, but then we had some major problems with our food.

Our side of sweet potato fries was undercooked and I don't mean just a little. They were maybe 50% done. The Cuban sandwich was completely inedible with dry pulled pork and the combination of low quality ingredients (ham, Swiss, etc) actually made the sandwich so bad that I threw it away after two bites. The Selkirk nachos have the same pulled pork and it is so dry that your mouth dries out eating a piece of it and you have to wash it down with a drink.

The lobster roll is not real lobster. Maybe it had a tiny amount of real lobster, but 95% was imitation lobster. For the price and the quality of our other meals, we thought maybe it would be langostine instead of real lobster, which while not ideal, is acceptable, but this was just flaked pollock, imitation lobster. It was appallingly bad and we can't fathom why the owners or management would choose to do it other than cutting costs. The substitution was not labeled anywhere, nor were we made aware of it when ordering. Also, this sandwich apparently has tomatoes on it which we were not told when we ordered. We already ordered the Selkirk without tomatoes and the same person ordered the lobster roll, but wasn't told about the tomatoes. Luckily, he isn't allergic to them, but it was a very unpleasant surprise. Having grown up with a family member with anaphalactic allergies, this is absolutely unacceptable to have two changes to a sandwich that are not listed on the menu.

I will say, while we didn't care for the calamari dips, the calamari was very well cooked. Overall though, management and the owners have made some serious missteps that need to be corrected before they end up sued by someone who does have a major allergic reaction to their food. I'm just glad we didn't order the bison ribs or any of the steaks given how poor our...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sweet Lou's Restaurant, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. I would like to take a moment to highlight the outstanding service provided by Carson, the bus boy, who truly went above and beyond to make our visit memorable.

From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, Carson's warm and welcoming demeanor set the tone for the night. Carson's attention to detail was remarkable, as he consistently checked in on us to ensure our plates were taken without being intrusive.

Carson's efficiency and professionalism were truly commendable. He effortlessly managed the flow of the restaurant, ensuring tables were promptly cleared and reset for incoming guests. Despite the restaurant being busy, Carson remained composed and attentive, never compromising on the quality of service he provided.

What truly stood out about Carson was his genuine care for our dining experience. He took the time to engage in friendly conversation, and ensuring our preferences were accommodated. His enthusiasm for the restaurant's offerings was contagious.

Throughout the evening, Carson's presence added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. His friendly smile and positive attitude created a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel like valued guests. It is evident that Carson takes great pride in his work, and his dedication to providing exceptional service is truly commendable.

In conclusion, I cannot speak highly enough of Carson's contribution to our visit at Sweet Lou's Restaurant. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for our experience made our evening truly memorable. I highly recommend Sweet Lou's Restaurant to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience, and I am confident that Carson will continue to exceed expectations with his...

I am only giving one star because the foo had great flavor other than the baked potato was overcooked, hard and dry. We were seated right away but took 15 min .to be asked what we wanted to drink. Another 20 min. for our order to be taken. When my salad came 20 min. after that it was brought by someone else with no silverware. The meal arrived aprox. 30 min. after the salad and I had to tell the waitress we needed silverware. The steak was supposed to be 6 oz. it might have been 3 oz. They baked beans were fantastic four all four fork fulls. The steak I got 6 small bites. I saw our waitress 3 times total although she and multiple others were wondering around or standing talking. I had to get up and track down a different waitress to get a to go box for my wife and get the bill. Our waitress showed up as we were leaving asking how everything was I told her I was not impressed and we would not be back. She apologized and said what could she do to make it right and she asked if she could get me a gift certificate. I said no there was no need to come back just to leave hungry again. She said she wanted us to come back and I informed her we would eat elsewhere in the future she informed me not in Athol there was no place else to eat in Athol. I said we won't be back and she responded with did you pay with a card I said no cash so she informed me if I would have paid with a card she would have been able to refund my ticket. But not by paying with cash? $50.00 later lesson learned one of the worse dining experiences I have ever had noisy atmosphere terrible service. I actually had to go to Super 1 and buy something from the deli to get...
