I’ve been here once before and the service was okay & food specifically chicken & waffles was really good, today’s dish was average but my review is more about the service/atmosphere. I came in with my 10 month old and a friend for her birthday brunch and the service was slow (that’s nothing new), the waitress was lovely, but the reason for the low rating is one of the employees. It’s a pitty that I’m leaving this review because everyone else was so lovely, even the customers. The main issue is just one employee there. She’s an older women who was working there and she grabbed my child’s toy and started walking away with it in an effort to play but the way she did that & talked to him made me very uncomfortable, not to mention grabbing his toy, I don’t mind people being friendly with my child but her attempts at interaction crossed many lines. She also stayed and had a full conversation for far too long (also cussing in front of my child). My friend and I were friendly (mainly because I was also trying to get my son out of the highchair so he was out of her reach), but we were very uncomfortable. She then asked my friend when she would be having children, something you should just never asked a complete stranger. We tried to move her along so my friend didn’t have to answer her but she kept pressing for an answer, I just eventually had to say something along the lines of “that’s the end of that story” to get her to leave. I don’t think she did this intentionally but the whole interaction crossed...
Read moreVisited for the 1st time. Was easy enough to find .I don't know about parking as I was dropped off. I had the Way You Make Me Feel meal with cheese added to my scrambled eggs. $14 meal, only 50 cents for cheese, was charged 20% GRATUITY for one meal- party of one ( dined alone) plus expected to tip server. This gratuity is added to ALL checks.
Pros
Server was nice checked on me once ( they seemed busy) , they give you water and leave the bottle, no annoying upselling, stays open until 5. Offers other options not just breakfast , food arrived hot
Cons
Forced gratuity, waited quite a bit to get my food, food was OK, 5/10. Some of my bacon ( 1 of the 3 or 4 pieces- it was hard to tell how many they wrapped around one another) was undercooked, eggs were OK, pancakes gave Bisquik mix. Overall meal wouldn't be described as delicious. Crowded made more noticeable by tight/cramped space. I initially considered taking the food to go because I felt like I was just too close to other people as we all ate.
To my understanding I was told that this is a black owned establishment and I really Care about that and I think sometimes we are weary of leaving bad reviews but if you're honest and not malicious, I think leaving a review that speaks to your experience accurately helps other people and gives businesses appropriate feedback, and opportunities for improvement, celebration, and gauging how they're doing. I'd still encourage that you try here. Fish & grits looked great, nice music,...
Read moreI checked out Angie’s for brunch today, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I ordered the French toast with fruit and bacon, but what arrived was almost inedible—the French toast was burnt black, not golden brown as it should be. The “fruit” was five thin slices of strawberry (maybe two strawberries total), and the so-called brioche bread looked and like regular thin-sliced bread. Definitely not worth $15–$16.
When I politely sent it back, the manager pushed back, insisting that’s just how they make it. I explained that properly cooked French toast should be golden brown, not charred, and suggested they either clean the grill or take it off sooner. Instead of addressing the issue, it turned into a drawn-out debate.
To keep it simple, I told them to keep the French toast and ordered chicken tenders and fries instead—figuring they couldn’t mess that up. Mind you, I never even eat chicken tenders and fries, but after drinking mimosas and needing something in my stomach before work, I didn’t have time for more hassle. Even that turned into another ridiculous back-and-forth, and I waited over an hour just for them to make the French toast and bacon, finally comped my meal after yet another argument—this time over the bacon. By then, I had to eat the bacon just to avoid starving.
Overall, this was a frustrating experience—poor food quality, terrible service, and way too much effort just to get a basic meal. I definitely won’t be back. It could’ve gone way...
