TLDR: An embarrassment to the hospitality industry. Don’t go.
I have never been more disappointed with a dining experience. I had been hearing tales of the Brooklyn-based, delicious, juicy, melt in your mouth Emily Burger for years. When I found out I could get an Emily Burger in Atlanta, I was ecstatic. I was so ready to buy $20 burgers for my bf and me to celebrate my new job. It would be worth it, right?! WRONG. Our experience was nothing short of disastrous from the second we walked in the door. Let’s hit the highlights:
Host was actively eating dinner at the host stand and greeted us with a mouthful of food. The restaurant was completely empty at 8pm on a Friday night in a busy area of Atlanta, save for 4 people seated at the bar. (Not a good sign)”. Literally every table/booth was available, and we were seated at a tiny table next to an ibeam that made it impossible for my boyfriend to get in and out of his seat. So…we moved ourselves to another table nearby. No big deal. But then… Again, the restaurant was EMPTY, and we had to approach a server to take our drink order after being there for at least 15 mins. The music was turned up to 11 and we could barely hear each other over the sound of the manager and servers scooting chairs across the concrete floor and dropping appetizer plates on every table in the restaurant. Our server did not make eye contact at any point while we were ordering because she was pushing in chairs at the tables next to us while we were talking. When our $20 burgers arrived, they were hockey pucks - charred beyond belief. On an ice cold pretzel bun. And there were virtually zero toppings. There was a quarter-sized dollop of sauce, and about 5 slivers of caramelized onion. This was not the incredible, $20 burger I signed up for. I asked for extra sauce and extra onions to add to my burger. That request was met with an eye roll. I watched our server sit at the bar and wrap silverware while I waited for my toppings. Those topping never came because “they are made to order.” A sauce and caramelized onions? Sure. Made to order. I said that I would just like to take the check and leave. Meanwhile, my boyfriend muscled through about 2.5 bites of his hamburger, and almost lost a tooth trying to eat one of the fries that had clearly been forgotten about in the fryer. Eventually, the manager approached me with a plate that held the OTHER burger on the menu because, “you might like this one more.” I did not ask for that burger. I did not want that burger. It was also a $20 hockey puck with zero toppings. I finally received my check. The only compensation I received was my burger being removed from the check. Nothing else was comped even though we did not eat dinner. We received a card from the manager who said, “NEXT time you come in, I’ll make sure you’ll be taken care of.” Sir, there will be no next time. Our total bill was $88 for two drinks, mozzarella sticks, and 3 burgers that we did not eat.
Never....
Read moreWell, considering this is my first review ever, I actually hate that I even have to write this. This is my neighborhood pizza, I’ve been going here for probably a little over a year now. But I think, after last night, it’s most likely my last. Typically the pizza is really great (the colony is my favorite), but honestly, sometimes it’s more than the pizza itself.
A friend and I went here last night after the movies and couldn’t wait to eat. A waitress sat us down, in an empty restaurant (quite literally just us two aside from a couple pick-up orders). She asked what we’d like to order and when I asked her if i could get ONE MINUTE to look at the menu, she said no problem she’d be right back. To our surprise, 15 minutes later, she never came back. We sat there with an empty water jug and waited probably another 10 minutes.
Then we were approached by another waiter, who asked if we’d been helped. Apologized for the wait, then took out very simple order, “One large Colony” and a refill of the water. He said he’d be right back with the water. To our surprise again, another TWENTY MINUTES goes by, not a single refill of water.
Just to refresh your mind, we are literally the ONLY PEOPLE in the restaurant.
Still no water, a group comes in, and he sits them down, takes their order, gives them water and walks away (they’re seated right next to us). Not a single check in, no one ever returned to the table until quite literally 50 minutes into us sitting here.
He dropped our pizza off and said “they made the small size of your pizza, not the large.” After all that waiting, we barely got water and then received a wrong order that was burnt?
Truly, it takes a lot for me to ever post something like this because I understand the challenges of this industry and how it can be difficult for many reasons. I empathize a great deal. But to be the only two people in a restaurant that prides itself on high quality, was so unbelievably disappointing. I don’t mind waiting at all, but to not communicate at all, stopping by the table to check in? It was just a really poor experience.
My last few take outs from here have felt similar, but this one experience truly deters me from wanting to come back.
I truly hope you all don’t experience this shop the same way, but I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if you did.
Again, so sorry that I even had...
Read moreI'll start by saying that the food tasted great, but the execution was where they failed. We tried 3 things, the cheesy bread sticks, a regular pizza, and mozzarella sticks. The sticks came out hot, and we finished them quickly. They were a little oily, but otherwise, they had a great crispy exterior and fluffy interior. After that, disaster struck. When our pizza arrived, we ordered mozzarella sticks. Our pizza, it looked great, had a beautiful color, a great cheese melt, and toppings. However, the entire middle of the dough was raw. It probably had to do with the ricotta keeping it too wet or the pizza already having enough color on the top, so they removed it early, but this is a pizza they offer, not a pizza we built. Unfortunately, our server was a drop and never come back server, so we had to flag someone down after sitting there waiting to inform them of the occurrence, which led to us waiting a good 8 or so minutes, trying not to be those people. Now, the manager ordered us a new pizza togo and gave us a discount, which is when we asked about our mozzarella sticks.... No surprise that nobody came to check on us when the mozzarella sticks arrived for us to tell them we had cold mozzarella as well. (The manager was in a brace, so I didn't expect her to come back, but again, neither did our server.) We were hungey and cold cheese won't kill ya so we just ate them but we gave up, and just took the togo pizza, paid our bill and knew we were going to have to cook the pizza more when we get back since, you guessed it, the pizza is still raw in the middle. Top it all off, we emptied our water carafe by the time we got our first pizza, and nobody noticed we were out of water, ever. I'm not surprised this location had 3 tables on a peak time Saturday night.
My Suggestion - Don't order a toppings heavy pizza here unless you want to reheat at home, but do order the cheese bread! The pizza is yummy when it's done correctly, and I would give them another shot if I was...
