Who doesn’t like a cookie, cake, pie or ice cream. I support this business. The owners are cool and the two male staff made me feel like we were kinfolk. Happy smiles like they are glad to be there to serve you, they explain the menu right away and they have good options and variations. Clean place in a great neighborhood. Parking on the street free. Unsure where I would’ve parked if I hadn’t found a space on the street. The kitchen is visible and clean. I’ve seen this setup before and it works well. Everything made fresh-love it.
One kiosk for ordering. I wonder how ordering is with a long line and people are indecisive like me lol. Fair prices, good size/value. They have Pie Friday that I got to come back for.
Lemon Pound Cake-A1 true pound cake. You can tell a pro making it. Look at pic in cake glass! Other than butter pound & cheesecake, there weren’t other cakes.
Oatmeal Cookie-fresh, soft, homemade- A hit. The sweetness is light (I wonder if they use a different sugar or less) wife and I loved it.
chocolate caramel toffee- wasn’t on the kiosk but 4 were remaining. I got two. Unique taste, soft, fresh, light sugar taste again. Didn’t read like caramel or toffee. Oatmeal was better, but this is good. Wanted to try Snickerdoodle.
Dubai Ice Cream Sandwich-Genius idea and name. Choose any cookie with any ice cream. I Got pistachio cookie with vegan vanilla ice cream. The dairy ice cream tasted better but a vegan would be happy with this, strawberry, chocolate and sorbet vegan options. Pistachio cookie is great. Get it warmed a bit.
I recommend and...
Read moreLou came and spoke to us from across the street. His genuine kindness and warmth caused us to stop at his shop when my friends and I were not even interested in ice cream at all during the evening. From the second we walked in, “Welcome to the Sweet Spot!”
Lou was phenomenal, and we met his amazing wife, Debra! They were hilarious, kind, and gave my friends and I the absolute best ice cream experience we’ve ever had. My friends & I all got different assortments of flavors and we ended up just having each other’s ice cream at some point!
I chose the Coconut Pineapple Ice Cream. Very smooth & creamy flavor but the Pineapple gave jolts of flavor to make an excellent dessert. My friends Maria bought Black Cherry. I will say, I will end up getting Black Cherry next time. It’s so flavorful but then the flavor of the cherry increases as you continue to savor. My friend Jeremy purchased Maple Walnut. It’s so great because the consistency of the maple flavor allows you to really dive into a pool of Maple Syrup. My friend Michael got the watermelon sorbet and let me tell you, that was the freshest I have ever had watermelon taste as a dessert since actual watermelon.
Lou & Debra, I wish all the best! We look forward to coming back, trying more flavors, and feeling as if we were at home with family! Thank you,...
Read moreJust visited this lovely shop in Glenwood Park called Westside Creamery Sweet Spot. The owners, Llew and Debra Eastern were outside greeting customers as they celebrated six months at the 880 Glenwood Ave SE location. My husband tried the mango sorbet while I opted for a little more decadence with an ice cream sandwich containing rum raisin ice cream hugged between a snickerdoodle and a ginger sugar cookie. We took a slice of sweet potato pound cake home because we overheard Llew say that if there is one slice left at the end of the day, he brings it home for himself! Upon entering the shop you can see all the baked goods and creamery flavors on display. Ordering is conveniently done at a kiosk, but friendly staff is available help, answer questions, or supply free tasters of flavors. Everything we ordered was delicious and the food truck happened to be out front that day offering free samples as well. There are pretty white tables to relax and eat out front as weather permits. Definitely a place you should check out...
