I have been in the market for a bicycle for a number of years but was reluctant due to the hilly nature of the terrain here metro Atlanta. I found a solution in e-bikes, but then quickly realized that the number of brands and models made the selections process daunting. So I made a list of local bike shops to visit one weekend and the Pedego Atlanta store was my first stop. When we arrived I liked the clean open feel of the space and the number of bikes they had on display. A young skater type approached us and I thought well this may not be the store or brand for us but he was really knowledgeable and took the time to show us around each model explaining what made them different. He casually showed us a new modem model they recently got in and I was immediately drawn to it because of the cool modern mountain bike design. The owner Kathy was behind the checkout counter and while we were browsing offered bits of information to fill in the gaps. We were offered test rides of the bikes and I immediately fell in love with the new model the Avenue. The sales process was easy, naturally we were offered various accessories to enhance and personalize our new bike. Kathy said the bike would be ready in the morning and around 10am I got a text that the it indeed was ready for pickup. We loved the bike so much that my spouse also wanted one so we placed an order for another Avenue with similar accessories. We have been very pleased with our purchase and Kathy has kept in touch which is an added bonus of local...
Read moreI had a interesting experience while shopping for e-bikes in Atlanta over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. My friend and I visited a bike shop where we were initially quoted a price of $1,995 for each bike. However, after my friend took a test ride and I briefly stepped outside, the owner revised the price, increasing it by $1,000. Ultimately, we decided to purchase a bike from Edison, where the owner personally delivered it to us. My friend says that the bike rides much better than the $3,000 one she tried, so I guess being turned off by poor sales paid off. I could chalk that up to it being the first day of the sale like it was explained to me, but this wasn't my first unusual encounter at this bike shop. On one occasion, I was asked to park my scooter outside, which when it happened caused me to rethink buying my bike from there and tipped the scales to me buying my Edison bike. Another time, my friend and I felt an odd atmosphere in the shop while browsing for bikes. To demonstrate our intention to purchase, we bought a helmet but left soon after. This was the third time and I couldn't over look the weird vibes. The owner did offer to discount any accessories that we got that day for the bike but that wouldn't have covered the difference. The bike we ended up buying from Edison was $1,000 less and because it has a standard bike frame is easier to peddle and maneuver in both of our opinions, plus they are locally owned, locally built and not a franchise plus the owner at...
Read moreWe rented e-bikes (different vendor) from another location on the beltline. While riding we noted the Pedego store and thought "why not swing in for a chat?". Eric and Robert were very accommodating and even allowed us to bring our rental bikes in for a side-by-side comparison. After that initial visit we did an extensive review of multiple e-bike manufacturers before deciding on Pedego, though were still torn between the Interceptor and the City Commuter. We met the owner of Pedego Atlanta, Kat, on our final visit and with her guidance ultimately decided on (2) City Commuter Platinum editions, long-range batteries and a host of options. We couldn't be more pleased with our bikes and are are excited about an upcoming group ride, sponsored by Kat and team, at Arabia Mountain in early October. We haven't ruled out investing in an additional (2) units, likely the Pedego Element (4" knobbies, small enough to fit in the back of our cross-over with the Commuters on the bike rack) for either our kids or friends to use. Or, if I'm just being honest, for ME to use when I feel up for slinging some dirt :) I strongly recommend Pedego Atlanta - you will...
