Fellini's sometimes catches a bad wrap from the pizza elite in Atlanta. But that's really just because it's been around so long that just about everyone has had a Fellini's pizza phase or 2 in their life and they sometimes think they've grown out of it.
The truth is that Fellini's is an Atlanta institution, and they've been doing New York style pizza by the slice for as long as I can remember. Even though there are several locations, and their food is consistent from one to the next, they don't vibe like a chain.
There are few New York style pizza places that you can find in Atlanta that are as good or better than Fellini's, and even less that serve by the slice after lunch, and I think that's a little bit of the magic here.
Fellini's was the first place I ever went to order food at the counter and was handed some kind of doodad with a picture of Elvis or Scooby Doo on it to take to your table for someone on staff to find you, and bring you your food. A lot of people don't realize how unique that once was.
A menu highlight to me is their meat slice. I don't personally usually enjoy ham on pizza, and it didn't look particularly delicious the first time I ordered it, but the ham is absolutely delicious and tender. Very high quality ingredients and very well made food.
While you may have a favorite pizza spot in Atlanta of your own, Fellini's stands the test of time and remains a sure thing if you have a craving. Any time you're passing by their iconic sign and you're in the mood, don't hesitate to stop in, sit...
Read moreMy friend and I have come to this location at least once or twice a week for some time now, and have always enjoyed the experience. Our last visit before today the staff seemed off. 2 salads were ordered, but only 1 was brought to the table. When reminded, the server acted as if it was our error and gave attitude. The 2nd salad didn’t come out until the pizza did which was not so great. Strike 1. Today’s visit we ordered and waited 35 minutes for our salads before reminding the cashier who seemed to have been drunk. Others had came in after us were served their entrees, finished and left before we were served salads. Strike 2. 1 salad was brought to the table, then the 2nd and then the pizza. Salads were not fresh, and neither was the pizza. It was very obvious that they added toppings to an already prepared pizza that sat out for who knows how long then threw it back into the oven: even tasted as such. Of all the times we’ve dined here we have never been served a pizza like this one. The energy in the atmosphere also was totally off so, Strike 3. Threw the pizza in the box, left the location, gave it away and will not return. Hopefully returning to the Brookhaven location will be better or...
Read moreThe best thing about Fellini's is their house salad. I mean it’s awesome if you like olives and lots of mozzarella cheese. I love it. But the pizza is great too.
Coming from NY where I love my single slice pizza, Fellini's is an acceptable replacement. I just wish they didn't serve it with a knife and folk. That should only happen in Chicago where pizza is a deep dish meal. But I digress... Fellini has some great pizza and you can customize a slice or a whole pie to your liking with a bunch of meat and veggie toppings. They have their salad with good balsamic dressing and some draft beers. Win, win, win.
This locations parking can be a bear sometimes as it shares the lot with La Fonda, but there is additional parking in the back or park across the street in the Fresh Market lot. There is a semi covered outside patio which is cool because you can watch all the happenings on Roswell Road.
Cool spot for casually hanging out and getting some food. Especially late night! Open till midnight during the week and for the Chastain area that is...
