Local Three is an experience you will not want to miss!! Make sure you go hungry and are ready to be welcomed by everyone from the hostess, to your waiter/waitress, to the chefs. You can't possibly try everything in one visit, so make sure you pace yourself and go back for seconds or thirds throughout the month. This was my first time in Atlanta, and it was the only thing to do on our list with what little time I had in the city. Local Three is truly a destination you should travel from anywhere to see. Some special thank yous; we ate at the chef's table - INSIDE THE KITCHEN - and it was a memory I will cherish for a lifetime. To Chef Angela, for making such amazing personal dishes - YOU are an artist in the kitchen. This was the most amazing experience, and it was so inspiring to literally watch you work, present your dishes, and see your dreams come true; Thank you. To our amazing waitress Katie, you are a food extraordinaire and made the whole experience a wild ride. You paired our drinks so well with our food, you made sure we were welcomed and honestly treated like royalty - new forks for every dish ... is this how the rich live? You were fun, caring, and it was so exciting to have as our hostess for the night; Thank You! To the rest of the Local Three team! Every single team member we met was over the top outstanding - you were all a really cool bunch to be around and it was an honor to experience the family that is inside your kitchen. Jimmy the GM, you perfectly put into words how the Local Three team operates the philosophy of the founders - I wish we could have met them! I won't spoil it for the newcomers ... make sure you ask the team when you go there what three legs the restaurant stands on. One of our servers, Patrick, thanks for the southern hospitality! To our assistant server, Nacho, the water was amazing, I'll be back for more! Sous Chef BJ, thank you for the coolest house-made pasta ever! Chef Carter, thanks for the flame grilled steak - best steak I've ever had. Chef Hannah, thank you for the coconut rice - yum! Pastry Chef Kareem, watching you make that caramel popcorn from start to finish was a real treat! This team is what brings the whole operation to life inside and outside of the kitchen. Everything we ate would literally melt-in-your-mouth. The salad was amazing. The grits were out of this world - I've always avoided grits because it looks like mush in a box, so I'm glad this was my first time - really set the bar high! Brussels sprouts were crisped perfectly and really wowed me with the cider reduction. You could tell the pasta was house-made, and it was to-die-for, make sure you leave room for the garlic bread! I've never had such amazing steak that was both tender, juicy, and grilled to perfection - and paired with the best cheesy mashed potatoes you'll ever experience. The caramel popcorn was really simple and sweet - and not too gummy like the caramel popcorn you buy at Walmart - it was crispy and savory like a nice crust. And finally, the tasty wine and cheese to top it off - cheddar cheese smoked with espresso - yes, please. Go to Local Three in Atlanta, Georgia - travel from wherever you live, and just go. You will not be disappointed, and you will not...
Read moreThis year we thought we would do something a little different for Thanksgiving. We ordered the full holiday meal with some add on sides. The service on the phone ordering was amazing. The drive up service bringing out the huge box of everything was amazing and they were super organized! I was so excited as I was having my 80 year old aunt and uncle over (which was a big deal because they don't get out much anymore) and we had opened our table to a couple that has no family locally so they could have Thanksgiving and be with people. I was looking forward to the chef curated meal and that it was going to be a delight to my guests and we could just relax and reheat.
Thanksgiving morning we realized there were no directions in the box. So, my ever clever and helpful Hubby got on the internet and found their reheat instructions online. Thank goodness the internet wasn't down at the time!
We reheated everything that needed it carefully and displayed it beautifully and it looked amazing...until it came time to taste. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Not $600 good for sure. I was not happy at all. The mac and cheese tasted like it was out of a box, the turkey had no flavor worth mentioning, the green bean casserole was very loose and liquidy. I had added some nice fresh cut pear to the salad and it really added a great texture. The cranberry sauce was probably the best thing about the whole meal, but one can not live on cranberry sauce alone. :)
My hubby made homemade, from scratch sweet potato casserole from a church lady recipe book and it was the best thing we had. The "chef curated" food was not up to par at all and I am very disappointed especially spending that kind of money to be able to not be in the kitchen and enjoy my precious family and my sweet aunt and uncle that went through a lot to drive to our home. Not to mention, our sweet friends that we were opening our home to give them a Thanksgiving they wouldn't have had otherwise. After the meal, we pretty much threw everything away. It wasn't good enough to keep and I didn't think another reheat would serve it well at all.
I do want to share the picture of the perfect, from scratch German chocolate cake my aunt G brought. We had that for dessert. The love and the pure deliciousness that went into that cake put the "chef food" to shame. I am not asking for anything, but I wanted someone to know. The meal was not bad, but it was not good at all and just was not Local 3's standard that we have come to expect.
Update: the manager saw that we had a bad experience and she made our situation right. I appreciated that very much. That is the kind of service we had come to expect from Local Three....
Read moreFirst off, I will start by saying I was not offered a free visit to give a review. My friends and I were having a bday brunch and found this restaurant while we were scrambling for another choice as the initail brunch spot had some issues and we could not eat there anymore. This is just my honest opinion!
Parking: It is not as easy to find the parking lot, but they have clear signs about where to find parking. The parking garage has a lot of parking spaces and you can validate your ticket at the restaurant! So yes, even though it is a paid parking garage, it is free for paying guests.
Food: Since this is a buffet style meal, some items were a hit, and some were meh!. We were a party of five, and each tasted something different! Everyone loved the sweet potato and pastrami hash. The biscuits were smaller in size than what I am used to, but I think that was perfect, and the eggs were very creamy! Another hit at the table was the fruit and yogurt & the shrimp and grits ( the seasoning used was to die for). The quiche was cold, and the Mac & Cheese and turkey sausage were "so so." All in all, the food was tasty, and the only big issue I had was not really the taste but more environment. Since it is a buffet style, you have to go get your own food, which is located in the kitchen area. In this case there are certain things I prefer to leave to my imagination when I eat out just because of who I am as a person and so for me seeing that, I was not enticed to eat properly. I was just making it clear that the restaurant was not dirty and I did not observe any unclean practices, but because I was going through an active kitchen, I did not feel enticed to eat. Again, this is just a personal ick and one of the reasons I give the restaurant 4 stars because for that price point, I want all my senses to be wowed.
Drinks: The drinks were wonderful. Most people in my party got the Orange Mimosas, which did what it had to do. It was strong and just the perfect buzz for brunch.
Service: The service was good. We were seated pretty quickly, and luckily, there was no wait time. As soon as we sat, they took our drink orders, and then we went to eat. Throughout our meal, we were always checked on, and I really...
