I don't normally write reviews but the experience was so terrible I felt compelled to write a review. We were greeted promptly and placed at a table that could not accommodate a highchair for some unknown reason. We stood for several minutes while the two young women determined where to seat us.
We were brought silverware and water and told our server would be over shortly. The server NEVER came to our table. Instead, we watched as she stood in the window to the kitchen and spent all of her time talking to the kitchen staff only.
We watched as all other tables sat neglected and partial/wrong orders were handed out intermittently throughout the restaurant. The man working the coffee bar stood around with zero interest in assisting any of the waiting customers. The hostess was taking commands from the server and delivering messages to customers since she could not be bothered to go tend to her tables herself.
The hostess came over to tell us they were behind (the restaurant was not even half full) and it was going to be another 5-10 minutes before the server could get to us. I asked if I could place an order of french toast sticks for my toddler son to prevent a meltdown and was told no I would need to wait for the server.
The server finally leaves her post at the counter facing the kitchen and greets a table seated after us, apologizes to them, and tells them of additional delays to be expected. She asked if they could consider coming back another time to give the new location a shot while again apologizing for the inconvenience. Logically, I thought she would be coming to us next which did not happen. After a 30-minute experience with water, we chose to pack up and leave the restaurant. While we got our coats on and packed up our toddler not a single person came over to apologize to us, nor even acknowledged we were exiting.
I never saw a manager or any person in a leadership capacity trying to make sure the restaurant was running well and taking care of the guests.
This location is NOT ready to be open and has no business treating customers in this manner. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had dining out. I will not be going back to Pancake Social and will be sure to share my experience today with as many people...
Read moreI visited Pancake Social around noon today and was seated fairly quickly because we allowed the hostess to seat us outside vs. continuing to wait on indoor seating. When the hostess sat us, she gave us a QR code for the menu but said she would be back with a paper menu. She never came back, and after 20 minutes, a waiter didn't come to greet us or give us water (even though we were outside in 90-degree weather). The hostess didn't give us a paper menu, although we didn't need it since we had the QR code. However, her effort to return would have reassured us that we were not forgotten by the waiter or could have asked for water, asked for an update on how long it will take...etc.
We saw folks who were seated after us get water, and the manager immediately tried to help the waiter by taking their order. I had direct visibility to two large table groups and my table was just me and my mother (party of 2). Eventually, we just got up and left after an additional 5 minutes and decided to go to Waffle House. I assumed I would get worse service there, but it was actually better as they were busy but attentive.
I would have wished to have a better experience at Pancake Social since it's a 5-minute walk from my apartment, but it was horrible. It looked like those with larger parties got the immediate attention which is unfortunate because those I saw getting the aid arrived later than us. It was completely unfair and bad...
Read moreI brought my girlfriend to Pancake Social at Ponce to celebrate her birthday, and unfortunately, they didn’t have the yogurt bowl she wanted so we ended up at the paper mill location. the experience was deeply disappointing. We specifically ordered our food to-go to ensure we could get the yogurt bowl she was looking forward to. After some confusion and back-and-forth with the order, we finally picked up our food and sat down inside to enjoy it.
Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, the manager, Anna, approached us abruptly and told us we weren’t allowed to dine in with a to-go order. The tone and delivery were unnecessarily rude, especially considering we were paying customers simply looking to enjoy a quiet moment together. No alternative was offered—no option to be served, no chance to tip a server, just an impersonal policy thrown at us with no empathy.
My girlfriend was left in tears on her birthday because of how we were treated. This isn’t just about a policy—it’s about hospitality and human decency. We would’ve gladly paid extra or tipped well if anyone had offered us that chance. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and disrespected.
I genuinely regret choosing this place for a special day. I would have rather received a refund than experience the cold, inhospitable treatment we...
