Atlanta 🔥 Late-Night Eats: Must-Try Braised Duck Delicacies 👍🏻

Date night was super fun. My husband took me for duckpin bowling for the first time. The food was really good, though portions were a little smaller than expected. Valet parking was only $3 (plus tip) and it was kind of hidden and off the beaten path. It has a cool entrance and seems like a hidden gem. The staff from the valet station to learning about the the game options and pricing were great. Note, you can bowl for a max of 2 hours, weekend price was $40/lane/hour. Plus shoe rental. The things that would have made it better (score more stars): 1. We had to ask the bar staff to wipe down the area we sat at. The guy didn't seem thrilled to do that and then only wiped down my side and not my husband's. 2. He also didn't seem thrilled when I said I wanted to get a water and figure out what I wanted and that I'd let him know. (I had literally never been there before so I needed to read the menu and figure it out.). But I was trying to be understanding. *The gal at the bar was friendly and ended up waiting on us instead. 3. The bathrooms, or should I say bathroom, totally threw me off. They have a bathroom, separate stalls (floor to ceiling) and urinals are behind doors aka "standing room only". Shared sinks along the long walk and the stalls are marked ladies versus guys. It was just different. 4. The thing that I didn't like was the wallpaper outside the bathroom, down the entire hallway. For a place that says it serves children until 5pm, one doesn't expect to find graphic wallpaper showing various sex positions and groupings of people. 5. Lastly, we tried three different booths before settling in at the bar for food because the seating at all the previous tables and booths were so uncomfortable and worn out.

I'm not a hipster. I don't go to cool places. I'm 50 with kids and don't get invited at the hip spots. Luckily, I work with some awesome people who DO go to cool places and one of those places is Painted Duck. From the moment you walk in you go down winding stairs into a basement. Then the door opens and you're greeted with lots of comfortable seating and happy sounds. Couches, pillows, perfect lighting, and good food smells. There is life-size pool table that you stand on that has soccer balls instead of billiard balls, lots of lanes of bowling, unisex bathrooms, and a menu that features more fancy drinks than it does food, but the food it does have is really good. The bowling alley are duck bowling alleys so it's very different from regular bowling. All of the balls are small 5 pound balls and you get three turns instead of two, and the pins are also very small and sorted with magnets. The food is a mix of selections like hummus, beef brisket and pulled pork sliders that melt in your mouth, hamburgers and even vegetarian selections. The unisex bathrooms aren't that big of a deal since there are still a men's side and a women's side, but the washroom/sink areas are all shared which takes some getting used to. All in all, this is a very cool spot and I can't wait to take the family here since this was work trip. But there are age limits after certain hours, so check that first before bringing the station wagon. This isn't Chuck E Cheese. I didn't see ANY kids at all from 5pm until almost closing, so the family hours must be very limited or possibly non-existent. Have to check that.

The bar staff were friendly, and it was fun to have a live band.

It’s rather difficult to find seating on a Friday night, but if you enjoy the free activities then you’ll be okay.

Things that are not okay:

Bowling is expensive

The layout is very poor for first time visitors. The bathroom experience is off-putting if you are unaware of the fact that it’s one hallway with shared sinks and 4 individual stalls. The exit was very hard to find since it is rather dimly lit and the exit sign is about 12 feet above the door frame. It’s not logically placed at all and could potentially be a fire hazard.

On the topic of the exit, I found it unacceptable to be accosted by the bouncer staff. I unknowingly was standing in a wrong area while waiting for my party to check out at the bowling kiosks. The staff member grabbed me without warning, and yelled at me inquiring what I was doing. He had no interest in assessing the fact that I was giving him full eye contact and informing him that I was trying to wait on my part to check out and find the exit. He spoke to me in a very demeaning tone that the exit “was just common sense… read bro!” Is what he told me while pointing to a different exit sign on the open doorway. This sign would have been impossible to read for the exit as the sign was facing away from the hallway! You can only potentially see its unlit, tiny painted text if the door is closed, or if you are already inside the exit stairwell. He then pointed to the previously mentioned exit sign located highly above the doorframe.

I asked this staff member if Painted Duck had considered lighting up the door sign, or lowering the doorframe exit sign, mentioning its inconvenient positioning. At this point, the staff member questioned my intelligence and said that “even drunk people can figure this out”. I replied that I was simply trying to leave and asked him to consider being more polite. This staff member clearly was only trying to escalate the situation and get a rise out of me, so I left the building. I would not trust him in a situation that had an actual problem. Additionally, I will be reporting this place to the Fire Marshall for the poor Exit signage.

The side games are okay, the drink prices are okay, but go somewhere else that is more inviting and doesn’t employ staff looking for a fight. Spend your time, let alone your...

This is a long review but please read it because it could save you from getting SCAMMED….If I could give this horrible establishment 0 stars, I would. On Saturday, April 22, 2023 my friends and I (8 people in total including myself) went to The Painted Duck to celebrate the end of our spring semester. We are just a group a college students who wanted to have a good time and unwind after a stressful semester. Little did I know this would be the worst restaurant experience of our lives!!! The server, Chelsea, took over 15 minutes to greet our table and when she finally came to take our orders, she IMMEDIATELY asked for our first and last names and wanted to take our credit cards prior to us getting our food. This seemed very suspicious since I have dined at hundreds of restaurants and have never been asked to pay upfront. Although we were reluctant, we all gave her our credit cards. The food took forever to come, and the service was poor. After we ate, she gave us our bills, and we asked if she would please give us our credit cards back. Over 20 minutes went by and then the manager, Jessica, came to our table and informed us that the server, Chelsea, “lost” ALL OF OUR CREDIT CARDS. The manager offered us a free gift card for bowling as if that is any compensation for such a horrendous act of negligence. The manager was even reluctant to validate our parking after this traumatic experience! I believe this is a scam, because the server claims she left our credit cards at the server station (where they print receipts) and someone “took them”, which sounds like an inside job. Especially since when we called the next day to ask them to check the camera footage, they claim they did not see anything. Sounds like a scam right? My friends and I have filed a police report and have already contacted every news station in Atlanta. I will continue to inform as many people as I can about this situation until justice is served. You will be hearing about this story on the news in the...
