I’ll start off by stating that the Bellyard has been one of our favorite hotels in Atlanta since it opened. We live in town and are regular guests at the hotel. While the customer service hasn’t always been perfect and they’ve moved through a number of staff members over the past few years, we love the location and the hotel décor and amenities and we are often upgraded with my Marriott Titanium status so we’ve made it our go-to hotel for staycations. My most recent booking changed my opinion of the hotel completely. |I booked the hotel a month ago for a Saturday night stay so we could do the Santa brunch on Sunday morning with our child and take everyone out for a special night in West Midtown. I used a Marriott Nightly Upgrade Award and the request was honored 3 days in advance to upgrade to one of their Junior Suites. I checked in 24 hours in advance successfully and noted my noon arrival time. I arrived at noon on Saturday to check in and they told me my room wasn’t ready yet but it should be ready by 3pm. No big deal. I went back home to pack up the family and came back around 5pm, paid the $30 for parking, and went to the front desk to check in. When I got to the front desk, they told me my room was no longer available and that they had booked me at a Kimpton Hotel several miles away. I had paid over $400 for the Bellyard and the Kimpton was $165/night. He wouldn’t offer a comparable suite like I had been given at the Bellyard and we wouldn’t get a late check out or any of the benefits of our Marriott status since it was a different hotel chain. Hardly equivalent. The front desk agent told me there was nothing she could do. I kindly asked if I could speak to the manager. When I spoke to the manager, he told me they had some water damage several weeks ago and intentionally overbooked the hotel knowing the rooms weren’t available but hoping/expecting they would have a number of no-shows. Once they didn’t have any no-shows, my room was no longer available. I asked that he put me in a comparable Marriott hotel such as the Epicurean and he told me that no rooms were available. I showed him that there were rooms available there and asked if he could book me a room there but he told me there was nothing he could or would do. The only option was the $165/night Kimpton. I declined the offer and took my wife and crying child back home across town. I reached out to the hotel directly to request compensation per Marriott’s “Ultimate Reservation Guarantee” and even tried to contact the GM but nobody has responded 2 days later. I think it’s either poor management or greed that this hotel would overbook rooms like this and walk a customer without offering an equivalent option or following Marriott’s T&Cs. I would be wary booking here if it looks like it could be close to full occupancy as they are likely to overbook rooms and leave you out of luck. I hope this review helps prevent a similar issue from happening to...
Read moreThe Short Version: Amazing Staff, Trendy Property, Great Location, Beautiful/Clean Rooms. We were looking for a hotel that would be worth staying in for a full workweek and provide home comforts and stylish while staying in Atlanta. After searching through loads of other hotel brands that we normally stay in we stumbled upon the Bellyard Hotel which is part of the Marriott family. At first sight we knew this hotel was the one and went about seeing how we could book a room for the week. After booking the property the real fun happened…Since this hotel was so amazing I knew it was the perfect hotel for the surprise engagement trip. My girlfriend (spoiler alert, she said YES) really LOVED the Bellyard so I knew my job was to surprise her not just with a ring but also that room. Being an elite member within Marriott comes with some pull but at the end of the day it’s all up to the property you’re staying at. So I called up the hotel and asked for the manager, (cool side note he’s totally from the same city I’m from), told him the situation and he said I believe we can help. From that moment not only did he upgrade us to the Bellyard Suite but upon arrival had chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne in the room with an amazing congratulations card! Throughout our stay the entire staff was amazing with providing any and everything we requested, answering any and all questions, and providing great local suggestions. The manager even checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was okay. The room was one for the ages; it was the cleanest room we have ever stayed in. No dust anywhere, not in the wardrobe, kitchen cupboards, TV stands, nowhere! The bathroom, Oh MY MY MY, just look at the pics! Once we walked into the suite it literally felt like home and we really didn’t want to leave the room, lol. If this hotel isn’t a 5-star property then it should be, because of the amazing rooms, staff, and property. Not only that but because of the manager I spoke about earlier this dude deserves ever bit of his paycheck (even like a 25% raise IMO), weeks later after checking out he wrote us to check on how everything was and to congratulate us again and welcome us back at anytime. He also was able to assist us months later with other questions we had and went above and beyond to help us get what we needed. I could literally keep writing until the word limit but the best way to experience this property is to go to midtown Atlanta and check it out. They also have an amazing after work nightlife scene as well, so there’s something for...

The bellyard was easy to find from two streets away which is always great right at the interlock ,Then we chose to do self parking so we could come and go as frequent as needed which was just roughly 30-33 dollars through park mobile app. We checked in and was greeted by the most knowledgeable and personable guest services . He was light skinned male but can’t remember his name so very professional so already I felt like we made the right choice. The hotel bar was lit ina good way, it was nice to just see people out having fun and relaxing with friends. The hotel is beautiful with so it was nice to hangout in the courtyard which was right behind the check in desk and across from the Saint Germaine bakery in the lobby as well. I like that the elevators are right by check in so no chance in getting turned around. Once we got on to the room floor there was premade ice bags for buckets and candy like lemon heads to take, which was a nice touch. The room is very spacious with the window seat and the shower is relaxing as well. There was a small built in fridge which was great so we were able to store cold drinks, also they have reusable bottles for the shampoo etc which is smart. There’s lots of food nearby so you don’t have to be hungry at night like some hotels . Everything in the room stayed quiet as well so very low noise, so very clean and a comfortable bed . We didn’t get to eat at Drawbar due to a private event the next day but it seemed good for drinks the night before not sure on food . I would check it out if you’re looking for a fun stay due to being at interlock it’s several things to do around like dinner and indoor Put Put golf also it’s a hotel apart of Marriott and as a Bonvoy member we enjoyed this stay for sure, we will...
