This is a high-end doughnut shop. Custom coatings (glaze, lemon, blueberry, maple, and so on), toppings (bacon, sprinkles, Oreo’s, and so on), and custom drizzles (raspberry, Carmel, chocolate, and so on) and they taste great so why only three stars. No set designs or “flavor combination” to order. In some images from other reviews you see “specials” like a “key lime pie” doughnut or “raspberry tart” and that was what I expected. Instead you get a build your own doughnut - BYOD only menu.
If you want chocolate dipped, with chocolate shavings, and chocolate drizzle you can order that custom built. At 7:45 AM with no caffeine you want to order an assorted 1/2 dozen, please give me choices of pre-designed doughnuts because I will not be able to conjure six completely unique from the three columns (dipping, toppings, and drizzle) for another hour and second coffee.
What got this review to three was the manager seeing the problem and asking what “flavors” I wanted and using her judgement to craft delicious outcomes. I said two heavy chocolate, two fruit flavored, and two cinnamon flavored. All were delicious and that is why three stars.
Other counter person was on her second day and was struggling to know what to do. Also she was a non-coffee drinker. Asking for half&half and being pointed to individual fake creamer servings, when they had the half&half behind counter was a “learning opportunity” that I don’t know if it took.
Maybe just opening for season or having a bad open or more popular than expected but I would hesitate to recommend returning. If you know what you want and can get the values from the three columns together it might be fine. I was greeted when I got back to room, “What no maple bacon?” Which sure they have that and maybe tell me you want that and then also the components you want on your version since I could not just order a “maple bacon” doughnut.
On final comment on an exchange with the manager, I asked about “pre-designed” choices and she kept telling me no, the doughnuts are all made to order and not premade. I again tried to rephrase the question and got the same answer. On the third try she understood and that was when she took over and asked about flavors I wanted and not the details on how to achieve. I believe they should have a sign saying, “Suffering from decision paralysis, let us take care of the details, but let us know if there is an allergy or...
Read more6 of us stopped in to get 2 half dozen donuts and 3 ice coffees…
There were a bunch of kids working in there, who were talking and laughing at each other, instead of listening to our order.
The girl at the register said, “Huh?” at least 5 times.
I had my two 5-yr-olds with us, and my little girl was explaining that she wanted a regular donut with chocolate icing, and not a chocolate donut. The girl got smart with my FIVE YEAR OLD…and told her that all of the donuts were regular donuts AND ROLLED HER EYES!!! Seriously?!?!
I ordered an ice coffee and just asked that it not be chocolate milk based…and she snapped back at me and said, “We would never make it chocolate milk based. Why would you request that?” All she had to say was, “Okay.”
The donuts were fine…nothing special or extraordinary. The coffee tasted like coffee-flavored water.
No one working there was nice or friendly. We were the only ones in there, and they acted annoyed that we were even in there. LOL. It felt like we interrupted their conversations with each other by being there.
It was super weird and uncomfortable…and I honestly wish that we hadn’t even gone there.
I would’ve rather driven all the way to Crema Brew…40...
Read moreWe own a timeshare down the street at Peppertree and walk over to the Crab's Claw every year but I never noticed this cute donut and coffee shop before.
I went in around 8am on Sunday June 30. The building is bright and inviting. I walked, but I know parking can be tricky sometimes since the town beach area is right there. A few customers were in there waiting on orders.
There are quite a few tables and chairs, and you can watch staff make your donuts. There are so many options, both for donuts and drinks. Each donut is your basic donut, and you pick your icing, toppings and drizzle. I tried vanilla with rainbow sprinkles and caramel, and strawberry with chocolate sprinkles and coconut. They were hot, fresh and delicious! I got an iced latte too, and they had several syrup flavors. I went with hazelnut. Delish.
The staff looked younger, maybe high school or college aged kids, but they were friendly and chatty. I was welcomed when I came in and the cashier and I made small talk. Everyone was very pleasant and the service was excellent.
Will definitely be going back next summer and bringing the...
