This was my first time here and last time. Unfortunately the whole experience was bad. We sat down at the table and there was chip crumbs and a dirty glass, I assumed it was a workers. That glass remained on the table the whole time. Anyways I tried not to be that one and complain. We got the chips and they were stale along with the salsa which was watered down. I can't complain it's free right? Anyways we order, my husband gets fajitas and I ordered a soup and taco. The soup comes out luke warm and stale chip strips sprinkled in. The chicken def frozen grilled strips. The server brought out my husband's side plate of rice, beans but no fajitas meat. 5 minutes later here comes my taco and his fajita meat. His stuff was cold already. My taco was absolutely gross and I couldn't even finish it. The meat tasted like it was mixed with the stuff you buy in the package at the store and it was pasty. Lettuce and cheese no tomato. The blowers were on high that evening so much it was blowing my hair and I'm sure added to the food being cold. The server was not friendly or attentive. Like they didn't want to even be there. I get it short staff, bad day etc but atleast do your job. To add to it the table right behind us there was a couple with a younger child blaring the cell phone with cartoons. It was so loud it sounded like to was coming through the speakers. I know the restaurant can't control but added to everything. My husband never ever complains about food but he even said he feels he threw $45.00 out the window. He took his left overs home and ended up throwing them out. I also want to add my stomach didn't take well to the food which is rare. Im not one to b and complain but it was a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStale chips and salsa that was probably actually watered down. Seriously, it was flavorless soup.
I ordered a tequila sunrise and it was pretty much just orange juice with grenadine. Iām a huge lightweight and never drink normally even a weak cocktail will give me a light 20 minute buzz. Trust me, I paid 10$ for orange juice with grenadine.
Donāt even get me started on the service. It was one of the strangest service experiences Iāve ever had. I barely touched my food because I was truly afraid. All of the women working there were giving me the strangest looks to the point where my husband even noticed. The server would hand me my requests (cocktail and water, my meal and the check were the only things I asked for) while smiling at my husband and giving me a side eye before walking away.
Before anyone starts assuming I was rude or something, I worked in restaurants for over 7 years and have been in customer service for over 16 years. I genuinely donāt think that I know how to be rude to service workers. A ābadā tip from me for bad service is usually 20%, 25% is my norm and if we really hit it off with our server they may get 30-40. A couple of our favorite servers at our favorite restaurants will even get a 100% tip around the holidays and when their birthdays are coming up. My point is, I treat service workers with respect and I have NEVER been treated so poorly for absolutely no reason to a point where I was uneasy eating my food. It blows my mind! Our bill was 50.70 and I paid cash leaving 57$ and feel zero guilt.
I donāt understand how this restaurant has so many good reviews. This was the strangest, most uncomfortable dining experience of my life. You couldnāt pay me to go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhere once there was a Ruby Tuesday, there now stands a Mexican restaurant. Inside, I can still picture where the buffet used to be, but other than that, it looks just like you imagine a stereotypical Mexican restaurant would look like - the color palette, the music, the whole thing screams of a certain kind of tame exoticism.
That said, the menu is extensive, the food is good, and by gum do you get a lot of it.
I opted for a combination plate with rice, refried beans, a chicken burrito, chili relleno, and tamal.
The rice was rice, the beans were passable, and the chili relleno was exactly as it should be.
The chicken in the burrito was in the dry side and not as flavorful as I'd like. The sauce on the burrito helps, of course, as does mixing each bite with some beans and rice.
The tamal was really good. I haven't had one ina while, and this one did not disappoint. Corny, some meat, added some of the sauces from the chili and the burrito and it was great.
Now.
The tortillas and salsa you get with your meal? Amazing.
Overall, it was average to slightly above average for what I think of as American Mexican food.
Would I go back?
Slightly out of my way and taking into consideration that there are a few other smaller, family places I'd prefer to go to that are closer, I'm unlikely to just zip over just to eat here, but if I were in the area doing some shopping? I'd stop in without a...
