I would like to share my experience with your establishment. Timeline of events as follows: Arriving at 7:15 pm, there were multiple empty tables within the main floor but we were told that we would be on a 15 to 20 minute wait. Acceptable due to shortages, and that is understandable. Sat at 7:30 pm: Our server Tanya greeted us at 7:45 Pm, bypassing us multiple times to deal with another large table in the dining room. We asked for water, but were trying to order beers. She pulled away to get our waters, and did not come back for nearly 10 minutes to get our drink orders. At this time, my table was basically devoted to ordering a second round as soon as those orders were placed to avoid waiting for drinks. First drinks hit the table at approximately 10 mins after 8 pm. At this point everyone within my party had noticed it took over half an hour to even get our first beers on the table. Quickly tried to place all orders for food and appetizers. Our appetizers did not arrive at our table until 8:45 PM. Again, we ordered beers. We managed to have 3 service runs for beers within our TWO HOUR stay. One person at my table noticed that something he had ordered, the cottage pie, had been sitting in the window both times he had gotten up to use the men's room. He pointed out to Tanya that he saw that his order was sitting there, and that if that was his dish he would like it remade. She stated that, oh the dishes sometimes look alike. I too had seen that dish in the expo window. 9:20 pm. Our food has still not hit the table. At this point I went to the bartender and asked to speak with someone on your management staff. I told him the story, informed him that our food had been ordered well over an hour ago, and that we were not happy. At this point he tells me that no one from the management staff was available to speak with us, and gave me your card. 9:30 Tanya arrived with food. Sadwiches (Not misspelled) Were cold. The plate that the gentleman in my party had confronted Tanya regarding was set directly in front of him. At this point, Tanya stated. "So I see you were talking to the bartender, what was that about?" I ran down this exact timeline for her. At this point, she -very rudely- stated that she would clear our bill, and immediately started taking back the food off the table we had waited nearly two hours to eat. In summary, Tanya had three tables that I personally saw her associating with while she was on the floor. I watched, to make sure there was something I was missing. However, she was only dealing with the tables in front. An approximate 12 top, a 6 top, and my table of 4.
During this time she bypassed our table to deal with the larger table first, leaving us drinkless for approximately 20 mins before we had a beer on our table. The time between us getting our appetizers and our dinners was nearly 45 mins, and when asked to make sure our food was fresh, she delivered a dish that had sat in your expo window for half an hour. Finally, when confronted about the lack of good service, she very rudely swiped the cold food we were given. We literally just stood up and left. Now: I have visited your pub before multiple times. I am a local, I have lived in the area for four years. After the service I was given, I have no want or will to go back. Half Lion Brewing in Kent is equidistant from my home, and I get amazing service, hot food, and if there is a problem someone addresses it like an adult, not like a scolded child. You have lost 4 customers during this exchange, and I just thought you should know...
Read moreFirst and last time here. We were sat down without menus waiting. The host didn't let us know we had to 8use the online menu. The beer menu was not easy to read as the "on deck" menu means that they don't have it yet. Fyi. As I couldn't decide on a beer this snarky little unprofessional waitress didn't return for 10 minutes as she helped all the tables around us and I couldn't even get her attention. I had to get up and go to the bar myself to order a drink. When she finally came over I mentioned we had been waiting awhile to order. She then became even ruder as I explained that she kept walking past us without even acknowledging us. She the snarked "Are you in a hurry or something?" I said no but adequate service would be nice. She rudely said "would you like another server? While bobbing her head up and down. I said I would. I watched as she went and explained the situation to the bartender and 2 other waitresses and her head bobing furiously. It then took another 5 minutes before another waitress came over. When She asked us if we were ready the other immature waitress walked by and said" yeah they been waiting apparently!" I then told our current waitress that was uncalled for and rude and asked to speak to a manager. She said that was the bartender at this time. I have been waiting for 15 minutes now and he still hasn't come over to address the issue. I had to ask again and he came over to give me the managers card so I can email him. The waitress in question name is Tanya. Do not have her serve you! They did end up comping our meal but still would have liked an...
Read moreWe have eaten and had drinks here a dozen or so times in the past 2 years, both at the bar and in the dining room.
Service at the bar is great - the bartender and servers are very attentive, drinks are reasonably priced and well made.
The food is really good, I have had the clam appetizer, which I crave on a regular basis, the mac and cheese is fabulous, the fish sandwich is really good, and my husband and kids really like the burgers and sandwiches, and they serve tots!. Breakfast is good here too, potatoes are crispy, eggs benedict was good and they allowed me to substitute tomatoes for the ham, which some restaurants make a big deal about - our only complaint with breakfast is that the biscuits are very small - when ordering biscuits and gravy, one expects a large biscuit, theirs did not make the cut.
That said, I am giving them 4 stars because the service in the dining room is only mediocre. We have waited for long periods without even seeing our server on the 2 instances we ate in the dining area, for the breakfast trip, half of our food came out, and the rest was about 10 minutes behind. We had to ask a different server to bring out the biscuits, which were forgotten all together, and when we were ready for our check, it was another 10 minutes of waiting. It was the 1st trip to Odd Fellas for my mother in law, and she says she will not be back, which disappointed me, since we've had such positive experiences in the bar.
I will continue to come to the bar area, but probably not the...
