Hibachi Express Auburndale — Restaurant in Auburndale

Wish I could say I just had the same great experience I used to have here, but that would be lying. From the 3rd visit in a row with our food being prepared wrong, (well done, and even overcooked,once, instead of rare or medium rare, wrong sauce once) to the 20+ minute wait before we even discovered they had "forgotten" to remake it (and laughed as though it was a funny joke).  At this point we had been there about 45 minutes since our orders were taken.

After this, and after I politely and quietly informed them that there had also been an errant short white hair found in my rice, and while acknowledging that we're well known regulars, who have been there once or twice a week, consistently,  for months, and never complained in the past, we were clearly not trying to get a free meal like tge cashier insisted, as evidenced by our still full platea that we left behind.

Their attitude also became less open, insisting that our only option was to wait the another 25 minutes and have them remake the problem portion, while the rest remained cold on our plates as we waited, or leave immediately, if we were not satisfied/going to eat. This would have been well more than an hour after we placed our initial orders. We could not wait that much longer, due to previous timed commitments.

After they made it clear that they were unwilling to meet at any common grounds, or even discuss the issue, we ended having to leave without our money or a meal to eat, as we were ordered to do so if not satisfied with the options they offered.

As a side note, much of the equipment also appears to be lacking proper maintenance, recently, and even simple health safety,  as seen in the very rusty toothpick dispenser here.

I don't know what happened, but it seems like perhaps they're under new management, or something else changed, but the last few visits have not been what I came to expect here.

As much as I hate to post a non-glowing review here on Google, I felt I had to warn people, at this point. When it's a risk of contracting tetanus in your mouth... That could be fatal.

Three big order screw-ups in a row, resulting in an additional 25+ min per visit, followed by the less than pleasant experience we had today, ending in being unwelcomed from the establishment without our food.

Addendum: At no time, during this entire encounter, which took about 6 minutes, were any voices raised, or personal insults thrown, swear words used, or anything like that, so I will give them credit for having that degree of self control.

We always try to remain calm and polite, to the best we can, and I was pleased that, while we were basically told to pound sand, it was at least done in a terse, yet civilized manner. I appreciate that a lot.

I cannot, in good faith, recommend this place anymore, which is sad to me, as it used to be really good. The fact that you now risk getting tetanus, though, and who knows what else... I almost don't know if I should even be putting 2 stars... That's dangerous, and they seem...

My wife and I and another couple went here for dinner tonight, not our 1st time. Worst experience we have ever had here, I ordered the steak hibachi dinner with noodles, no vegetables and no onions. Everyone else's food came out pretty quick, they just ordered the chicken hibachi dinner. I heard someone say from behind the counter to the cooks...this was supposed to be noodles, no vegetables and no onions, so it was cooked wrong. No problem, it happens. The next time, it was cooked the exact same way. So I go to the counter to find out what's going on. I FINALLY get my food and it has cabbage and carrots in it. I asked the gentleman behind the counter what that was, pointing at the cabbage and carrots, me knowing what it was...he says cabbage and carrots. I said that I asked for NO VEGETABLES AND NO ONIONS when I ordered. I said so that's the third tim it was cooked wrong, he answered, no that's the second. I guess he didn't know I heard the first time. I told him to just refund my money, which he did...but I paid $2.00 extra for noodles that I didn't get back. By the way the "gentleman" behind the counter was rude and didn't try...

I just got a random call from a women drugged out. She called me from this establishment and said uhhhhh are you going to pay for your order and I asked her what she was talking about because I've never called or been to this place and she said uhhhhhhhh what is your order. She never got to the point she was super slow and nodding out on the phone. I eventually thought it was a prank call and hung up. After I figured out this is the actual restaurant number I called back and the same person answered the phone she was so drugged. I swear she's got to be on herion or something similar. She couldn't speak clearly or finish sentences. Her speech was super slow and slurred. Hopefully the owner sees this and can do something about this. That woman shouldn't be so messed up calling wrong numbers and doesn't even know what's going on. The call occurred around 7pm July 10th so hopefully they can figure out who was working but...
