Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Auburndale

Worse Chinese food I've ever tasted in my life. Trust me when I tell you not to waste your money. You eat when you are desperate. I'm Chinese and have lived in many Asia countries and eaten at thousands of do called Chinese restaurants throughout the US and around the world. Here are the reasons:

Fast food Chinese with pricey menus. Just compared to nearby restaurants.

Poor quality. They load up your combo with plenty of tasteless and uncooked fried rice while skimming on your meat. Example, pepper steak was filled with tons of onions and peppers but 3 thinly cut pieces cut of beef. The beef was tough and stringy. The uncooked rice clearly was grainy and hard. No seasoning even after they turned it into fried rice. Fried rice lack chunks of char siu! Why called it pork fried rice? Why not just vegie fried rice??

Taste. Can anyone tell me if pepper steak ( American version) should taste sweet? Should Mongolian beef taste sweet as well? Should proper char siu fried rice has flavor of housing, oyster or sufficient shoyu and dark shoyu sauce? Should it has sufficient char siu scattered throughout your heaps of rice? If you know your answer, trust me, the taste and expectations of these menu items defer from your knowledge!

Poor unsanitary environment. Owner boarded up half of restaurant catering to takeout only. Covid brings more business via takeout instead of hiring crew to deal with dine-in services. The lobby fan has no blade. The kitchen floor, as seen from the order window, was littered with food debris. That tells you what is installed in their walk in fridge and freezer. Nervous on food poisoning but watched that the good was piping hot and fully cooked in order to swallow anything that may be contaminated or spoiled!

Customer service. Staff was difficult to understand not their fault. At least, please try to smile, greet and thank your patrons. Customer don't owe you anything. In their mind, customer does bother them as staff was rude, no smile and felt bothered.

This place is terrible. And who ever I talked to on the phone was very rude. I have had teriyaki chicken a lot of places and this was nothing but onions and peppers. Maybe 5 pieces of diced chicken. I even specified no vegetables just in case and it was still loaded. When I called and explained I’ve never had it like this before I’m sorry but could I please replace it. She was very rude so I even offered to pay for it (another $14-she charged me) because I needed something to eat. Once I got there she asked me for the teriyaki chicken back..I was confused. She wanted the box of teriyaki chicken that she sent home with me back. I thought she was joking. Im just appalled. Could walk here but will NEVER...

Beware of pricing!! We got a menu 2 days before we tried this place. When we ordered and went to pick up and pay there was more than a $10.00 discrepancy. When I asked to go over it, each item had been at least 1 to 2 dollars more. When I suggested she remove the menus that are in the front window her response was well we don't want to waste the menus, you could have also ordered online. So they know people are going in to get menus are are going to order but pay more than what they are showing. Nothing is even mentioned about price changes to the menu. So it's the customers fault for their dishonesty. They know what they are doing. Don't care about your customers then we don't care about giving...
