Like most people, I checked the reviews before trying this new African Côte d’Or place(just opened x 1 month now). My girlfriend and I decided to give it a shot. The front desk staff was polite, but everything went downhill from there.

We never got our drinks after ordering and had to ask for them. Only three workers were there, and the lady there who also took our order as the chef/manager was on the phone the entire time she cooked our meal. That felt unprofessional, and maybe that’s why what happened next happened.

It took about 30 minutes to get our $25 tilapia with plantains. When my girlfriend started eating, she found a barcode sticker the size of a dime in her food. We told the lady(chef), and instead of apologizing, she coldly said, “Show me.” We showed her the plate. No apology, instead she tried to convince us that what she is a small mistake and it’s okay.

She offered us $5 back even though half the meal were untouched. We told her that wasn’t fair to us as her customers. She walked away, visibly angry, and never spoke another word to us.

We weren’t rude. We just wanted a fair refund for their mistake. But instead, we were treated like we were...

First . The picture is what I was given from the restaurant , I took the 2 pieces of meat out to see exactly how much egusi I got, did not eat yet .. this meal cost $25 . They put chicken even though I asked for beef only. I ordered this meal for pick up while in Grovetown and drove all the way from Grovetown and it took 30 minutes after getting to the restaurant to get my order .

This is my second time trying this place I enjoy the food it’s great . The first time the egusi was in the same small container but atleast filled to the rim . So I was pleased .

To spend $25 in this economy I need my money worth’s . No one just giving yal money. $25 is paying for dinner in my eyes so do not give me a corner of soup please . I hate to give yal a bad review since yal are new , I was excited about you guys opening and enjoyed your food. I get it its African food it’s foreign so you can charge alittle higher but damn make it count for me I spent $25 and will have to spend some more since this is not even a appetizer more like a sample....

I came here hoping this was a new African spot in the area, but it turns out it’s just Timbuktu relocated from Walton Way. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t great. The lady in the back making the meals was rude, per usual which really set the tone.

The food itself was good, but the portion size didn’t match the price. I paid $29 for what I called a “sample,” and to me, $29 should be a full, generous meal—not something small. If I had seen who was cooking before paying, I honestly would have walked out and gone to King Rich instead.

At King Rich on Tobacco Road, the portions are big, the service is friendly, and the prices are about the same ($20–30 depending on what you order). The difference is that their plates are worth it—I always leave with leftovers.

Unfortunately, I won’t be...

so on the left you have their small portions the fufu is alright sized but the “kassava leaf soup” im gonna save you guys the time and money, its not worth it don’t believe tiktok don’t believe any reviews saying its good, the soup has this sweetish but oily taste no real seasoning or spice to give it any african cultural taste, at this point i will rather stick with the terrible fast food around here locally than ever spending money here again but save your time money and taste buds it doesn’t remotely taste close to kassava leaf soup which ive had plenty times, the photo on the left is their small but terribly portioned and bad tasting imitation of kassava leaf soup which is very much false advertisement and the right is real kassa leaf soup home made from a true liberian.
