I feel somewhat bad having to write this review, however, I hope it serves as a deterrent of sorts for those that may follow. I have eaten at Damon's a number of times in the past. Just a couple of days ago my girlfriend and I had lunch there that was quite good. That consisted of a cheeseburger w/fries for her and a steak and cheese for me. No issues at all. The food was fresh and tasty. Fast forward to this evening and you get an entirely different story. We were feeling like a lobster roll. Other area establishments were closed and we decided Damon's might fill the void. We have had their rolls in the past without issue, so we figured, why not give it a try? That was a mistake. We ordered the 1/2 pound lobster roll basket. This includes fries and coleslaw. Upon arriving back home with our food we found our coleslaw was almost hot. The ketchup packets that had been included were actually hot. Both due to the fries included in the same container. The coleslaw did not come in a container of it's own so that probably didn't help. Moving to the rolls themselves did not make anything better. At first glance there was almost no mayo on the roll. No seasoning. Nothing. I don't want my lobster swimming in mayo, but it needs some. Add to that the fact that the lobster itself was almost shredded similar to crab meat. Definitely not right. I took a bite to find two flavor profiles; one almost completely lacking in flavor and the other bitter and kind of gross. My girlfriend also noticed that it pretty much just tasted like water. Just because it comes from the sea doesn't mean I should taste water. My guess is that this was definitely low-quality frozen lobster. The shredded condition of the meat, the water, the bitterness. They all lead me to that conclusion. I would understand if this were a discount roll, however, they are charging approximately $27 for this basket. Not exactly a deal. I like Damon's well enough, but unfortunately, this was the very likely the worst lobster roll I have ever had. It's unfortunate as well because they are a local business that usually has polite staff and good food. Perhaps I would give them another chance on a different menu item. Ultimately though, this was a $63 dinner I wish I...
Read moreAfter years of frequenting Damon's, finally the prices and lack of quality service has overtaken the usually good food, however, now the food has taken a step back, and so it's absolutely no longer worth the cost.
A "Big Dave" is their flagship food item and it's pathetic these days: it's mostly bread and has a shadow of the toppings that once used to get jammed into this monster sub. The cost on this is $22! See the picture below for just how disproportionate the bread to toppings ratio has become.
It's clear that they don't teach or train how to speak to customers. When you pay, their folks tend to be rude with a lack of professionalism. Busy or not, I usually feel rushed or feel like they are rushed. They cannot be trusted to do what you ask. Mayo on the side? Extra dipping sauce? These requests have been a miss for years, but it's even worse these days. They serve hot and cold food, but take no steps to ensure hot stays hot and cold stays cold. You wanted cold Cole slaw? Unfortunately they package it in the container with hot fries and chicken. I want my sub to be cold, but they put it in the bag with the fried food. I've even had entire orders (hot and cold food) all placed on the top of their oven, which is just the worst place for cold items.
Just not what...

Used to always be FRESH and good. Times sure have changed.
The last two times I’ve gone in, I order my “half a big Dave,” with no pickles. Both times I’ve had to have them remake it. I DESPISE Pickles. I’m picky I know… that’s why I specifically order my sandwich without them! Makes sense right?
Well, the employee let it slip over the phone that these sandwiches are prepped ahead of time. “That morning,” or perhaps the day(s) before. I mean, if a big Dave gets made Saturday morning, is it possible for it be sold Monday? I would’ve never questioned these things, but I don’t know?
What I do know is, they are NOT made FRESH TO ORDER. They’ll simply peel the items you wanted omitted, off the sandwich they’ve been soaking into all day.
When you’re paying at least $14 for half a sandwich, with tax… it should be made fresh to order, no?
To their credit, they remade the sandwich both times. And both times the bread tasted fresher, and my sandwich wasn’t riddled with pickle juice - just the way I ordered it to begin with.
I won’t be giving them any...
