Dennis' Barbeque — Restaurant in Augusta

This is the best BBQ we’ve found in the CSRA in the last three years. My wife and I shared a 2-meat and a 3-meat plate (we got the chopped beef, chopped pork, wings, sausage, and ribs) with green beans, potato salad, baked beans, macaroni & cheese, and cornbread as sides. The kids were less adventurous, opting for chicken tenders with mac & cheese and fries on the side.

Everything we got was delicious and portioned appropriately. None of the meats needed sauce, but the BBQ sauce they provided was also great. Even my wife loved it - and she hates the more mustard-and-vinegary BBQ sauces.

The only improvements I would like to see — and which weren’t a big enough deal to give them less than five stars — are: the cornbread was a little dry; the potato salad could have used more mustard; and I wasn’t able to try the coleslaw, but hopefully I will the next time!

The service was as expected for ordering at the counter, and the young woman at the register was a delight!

There’s not a lot of ambience in the place. Basic diner tables and a television on the back wall that was just playing music. The place closes at 7:00, and we got there at 6:00. We didn’t plan to stay and eat, and were back at home in Grovetown enjoying...

Hubby and I love trying new places and he especially loves good BBQ. We have tried some amazing BBQ from hole in the wall places. But this is not it. This was not good at all. Not worth 33 dollars. We ordered two of the "two meat" combos. Both with pork and beef. He had mac and cheese and hash/rice as sides with cornbread. I had mac and cheese and collards with bread. The pork was OK. Not good but ok. The beef had that bitter burnt taste to it. The mac and cheese tasted like boxed. The collards were very sweet. The hash and rice tasted ok but not like hash, more like Brunswick stew over rice. The cornbread was dry and tasted like jiffy cornbread straight from the box. I like freshly cooked pork skins.. do not get from here.. the tough outter skin was left on and tasted like cooked in old oil.. when I pay for bbq I expect better than I could make at home from boxes. The food at this place is terrible. I went to this place after work and ordered a simple plate of 6 wings no sides, and what I got was the smallest wings I have ever seen. They where half the size of my pinky. I was blown away. Over cooked wings, burnt, stuck together, and not very good in flavor at all. It seems like they tried to imitate the wings that you would get at China Wok down the street and fell abysmally short. But what would you expect from a whole in the wall business, and I do mean whole in the wall. The place was as dark as a bar would be.
