I sort of got dragged out here by my parents on their weekly night out with friends. It was either go with them or raid their fridge and I wasn't in the mood for leftover roulette that night. Plus, I have yet to discover an even halfway decent Mexican restaurant in Thomaston. We got there and found their friends already seated at a table big enough for all of us. Apparently they visit this place quite often because four or five servers made a point to stop by the table and greet them. It took a few minutes to get to order drinks; I noticed that our server had what seemed to me a rather large section, especially on a Friday night. Drinks got delivered, we all ordered-including my Mom and sister with multiple special instructions for their dishes-and waited. And waited. And, well you know where this is going. After what seemed like way too long, our dinner was delivered-all at once, which is the way it should be. I had amused myself during the wait by watching the subtitles in Spanish on the bar TV's and trying to follow along while understanding around one word out of three or four and talking to the table next to us about how friggin' great their order of wings smelled. My food was pretty damn good also. I got the Chimichanga Grande dinner with beef. I love chimichangas! This one was a good one: the beef filling was fall-apart tender chunks of meat with refried beans and luscious melty cheese with just the right amount of heat in the spices. My only semi-negative note would be that it could have used a bit longer in the fryer, could have been crispier and more golden brown. And had a little less of the cheese sauce on top as that stuff tends to run down and soak into the tortilla, leading to a soggy bottom. It was served with what they called a Guacamole Salad: a small, fried flour tortilla with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and, of course, guacamole on top. All of that was good except for the tortilla; I thought it really was extraneous. That whole setup on top was more like a set of toppings for the chimichanga. Overall it was an enjoyable, tasty meal even though my dad mentioned several times that the food used to be...
Read moreWe (my wife, daughter and two developmentally disabled men that we foster) stopped in after a long day to place a to go order.
My wife walked in with one of the guys and my daughter, and the restaurant was not busy.
She walked to the counter and ordered a cheese dip for my daughter.
I was in the parking lot having a discussion with the other guy we foster.
My wife ordered her food and looked at her phone and explained that I was outside and she was just checking to see if I messaged her what we wanted.
No sooner than my wife got that out the girl with the long brown ponytail tossed her pad and pen on to the desk and said "well, is there anything else?!"
My wife was aggravated by her attitude, and advised that we would just take the chips and cheese dip to go. To which the girl replied "I told you, that comes with any to go order." My wife then explained that all we would be taking is the chips and cheese.
My wife came back out and explained what had happened, and I went inside to have a chat with the girl and the manager.
I explained what my wife said happened and the girl walked around the candy rack and just stared at her manager rolling her eyes the entire time, interrupting with "no. That's not what Happened." Several times.
I pointed to the camera on the wall and asked if it had audio, and could we watch it to see, because nobody should be talked to like that.
The manager advised that Emilio Sanchez, the owner, was in Mexico and did not have an estimated return date.
I inquired that in an emergency like the restaurant being broken into and or robbed, that there was absolutely nobody else who could view this tape?
She just told me no.
I left the restaurant, highly upset without an answer at all.
In the past we've had an average experience here, but due to the girl with the long brown ponytails actions behind the counter, we will not be back, and I will be calling the restaurant weekly until I get Emilio on...
Read moreThe service to go staff was SO RUDE. We placed a to go order so we could take it home to eat. Through placing the order on the phone no one mentioned ANYTHING about them having a required mask mandate for service. I’m not saying that I wouldn’t have respected it, but most places don’t care and since we were not staying I figured I could walk in to pay and grab my food no problem. The young girl at the counter was instantly rude to me and my husband asking if we had a mask. When we did not she refused to serve us. I asked if she would mind grabbing our payment if we waited outside and she rudely declined. I then proceeded to ask for a mask (because if restaurants mandate you to wear one THEY MUST HAVE SOME TO PROVIDE.) again she rudely decline and refused to serve us. We tried to do everything in our power to comply in our circumstance and she was so rude and did not help in any way. We could have paid and left by the time this exchange was all over. I’ve lost respect for this establishment and will not be returning to this location because of the way in which this situation was handled. It was not the restaurant itself but the staff that was the problem. If we would have been told we needed a mask to get a pick up order we would have respected their policies. Truly sad that a willing customer would have to take their business elsewhere because of the rude, rash actions of a...
