La France Bakery — Restaurant in Aurora Township

Before I went to this place, I had read a review somewhere calling it a hidden gem, and I couldn't agree more! Hidden it is, shadowed by the Hollywood casino in Aurora downtown. It's located at a spot that is easy to miss. I heard about this place via word-of-mouth as a place that makes custom cakes. I ordered my son's first birthday cake from here and every guest kept complimenting the cake even weeks after! The best part is that you show them any picture/theme on the internet, no matter how complicated, they have the skill to make the cake look exactly as that. And for the effort, I found the price reasonable. The only area of improvement I have for them is to suggest what would be good for fillings if the customer is confused. The guy kept saying we can have any fillings even though I kept asking him to suggest. I’ve been getting my cake from here for the last 7 years for the reason that the quality of cake is superb. The past 2 years including the disappointed cake we got yesterday has shown the lack of quality. You buy products from small businesses like these usually because of the quality and when these businesses slack quality is when they start to loose business and this bakery shop is the prime example of that. The owner is rude and unprofessional. They lack design ideas for adults. Our cake was not only missing the cheesecake filling, which we payed extra money for, it was not round and was thicker from one side. It looked like a fast made cake. Spent 120$ I rarely give 5 star to any place. Bro/baddie, trust me—this is the only place where I genuinely love eating cake and cookies. Everything was so good—fresh, soft, and full of flavor.

Pro tip: If you’re planning to order a step cake, make sure to pre-order at least 2 days in advance. They don’t take last-minute orders for those. That said, even if you walk in, you’ll still find delicious, fresh cakes ready to grab.

The ambience is lovely, and the cake literally melts in your mouth. Service? Top-notch.
